For 2012 and 2013 seasons for academic misconduct. Not sure of the details, but the talking heads are bitching saying the penalty was too harsh and "unprecedented" considering the "minor" level of misconduct.

That does not seem to bode well for a certain group of habitual offenders.

Greg Sankey chaired this committee and rejected the majority of the school's arguments against vacating the wins. They are also on one probation, I believe.

Vacating wins should never be seen as too harsh a penalty for anything. It is meaningless.

AMEN!! They played the games, they won the games. Who the hell cares if they take them out of the record books. Stupid penalty.

Yeah, vacating wins should never be considered major infractions. If MSU won the national championship game last year and you told me today it didn't count I wouldn't give a shit. I would have already gotten most of my joy out of the situation.

The Black Bears Named Rebel care very much about their all-time record. It's what they have to hang onto...the advantage they built up in the Vaught years. They clutch to it as if their lives depend on it.

It's not as hurtful as other things....but if they had to vacate a few wins vs us...they'd be pissed.

They'd act like they were never vacated. The talking point line out of hell would be that they won them on the field where it counted and they don't care what the NCAA did on some witch hunt started by us poor leg humpers.

vacating wins doesn't hurt your program going forward, but it matters. And it's a constant reminder that you're cheaters who can't compete legally

It's not meaningless. I'm a big USCw fan. Vacating those wins while Reggie was playing leaves it kind of hollow when you talk and think about that era. It happened......but then again it didn't.

So now a team that featured a player with an imaginary girlfriend now played a season full of imaginary wins.

I didn't even know ND was under investigation. Seems like a relatively minor violation. The Bears are really going to get slammed barring some miracle in their favor.
