Strong about to be fired. Is there any way in hell he would be a candidate for us at DC? Any way he'd be willing to work for Mullen? Any way Mullen could be told to hand him the reigns on D and let him do his job?

Feel for Sirmon, but either Dan won't let him do his thing, or Sirmon was just not ready yet. FWIW - I think Sirmon may some day learn to be a DC...but we can't wait years for that to happen.

We need to get over Strong. He's going to have a lot better offers

Maybe, but he has a personal history with Mullen, and it's not like we can't afford to pay a lot

If we are going to dream we may as well say go after Aranda.

Not no but hell no. We laugh at OM being delusional.

Charlie Strong ain't coming to State unless we are stupid enough to offer him the HC job.

So, you're confident his shit-show at UT isn't going to force him to take a temporary step back to a DC? Isn't it possible, if not likely, that his track record at UT, along with his likely salary requirements, are going to scare off a lot of schools looking for a HC?

Even if we had a chance in hell at getting him, which we don't, we'd just be shooting ourselves in the foot again by voluntarily perpetuating our revolving DC door.

He's going to get upwards of the 10MM left on his contract.

He can be choosy.

Now his choice may be an overpaid DC or a lower paid head coach. TV would grab him in a heartbeat.

Or how about , come as DC for a year then get the HC job when Mullen finally promotes himself elsewhere. That's a Sexton/Cohen/Stricklin question.

Although he coached for a year at UM some 20+ years ago, I recall a discussion several years ago (Mullen or Freeze hire time) he may not want to bring his family to Mississippi to live.
