Last play of the game- 4th and 1 on the 1. Time out has been called to get everyone on the same page. What happens?

The ****ing TB goes the wrong way and you lose the game. A lot of times there is what the player is coached to do- and what he actually does.

I hate the pitch in that situation anyway

Well, at least Ed managed the clock well... Les would have run out the clock with a 2nd & goal and 2 timeouts in his pocket.*****

But you're 100% correct... total lack of execution.

Coach O was just like Miles. He ran it up the middle all 4 plays. No creativity. And LSU still had 2 timeouts in their pocket. Florida used 2 timeouts at the end there.

Well to his defense, he tried to pitch it outside on the last play

No he looks stupid because the first two plays he spread the d out and then the last two you bunch up. Give the back some help and spread some defenders out.

agreed, but the clock didn't run out on him... and maybe he should thank Mac for some of that.. the ref said (and stats show) LSU had no TOs remaining...

the play calls, as you stated, were conservative....

Maybe conservative but what would Bear have done from inside the 5? Lol

And so coach O loses his chance to become LSU coach. He won't get it now IMO.

Hate it for him. Red zone execution was horrible all day and he got too conservative. Should have gone for it from the 1 1/2 yard line on 4th down. Trust that your D can keep them pinned if you don't get it. It sends a message to your team. Dana Holgerson's name has been floated. That would be crazy.

Fake the dive and toss to the RB outside.....score all day.

Doesn't matter- the RB wouldn't go the correct way

Of course...it's linear...the RB goes the wrong way every play.

1) Punt on a high percentage 4th down play on a drive that you apparently don't have the brains to realize you must maintain to keep pace.

2) Shumperting away a game before (1) above.

3) Not calling timeout on a revealed possible turnover.

4) Wearing anything with an M-State logo tonight at least.

Im quite sure there are plenty of examples to the contrary but the real reason is that head football coaches are narcissistic jerks who cannot fathom the idea they could be wrong. Ever.
