Not sure if drought related but as I'm driving up to watch game today I notice an abnormal amount of birds as roadkill. Mostly hawks and some owls. Been noticing the same abnormal things in Louisiana the last 6-8 weeks. Trying to hypothesize a cause, the drought and rain threads from yesterday popped in my head.

I'm no animal specialist but do spend much time outdoors and hunting. Would the abnormal amount of dead large birds on the roads recently be a result of the drought and their prey having to venture out longer distances than normal for water? I've personally witnessed the impacts of deer in droughts and monsoons and applied their movements to small rodents during the same conditions.

May be way off, but there has to be some reason for the unusually high amount of dead birds recently.
