Early in February of 2005, Ole Miss signed heralded 5 star Offensive Tackle Michael Oher out of Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis. Many suspected the 5 star signed with Ole Miss due to his adopted parents, the Taco Bell Tuoyhs, love for their Alma Mater, Ole Miss. Just 20 days after Oher signed with Ole Miss, the Rebels hired Oher's high school football coach, Hugh Freeze as Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs. These events sparked an NCAA investigation that is described below:

"Though he received scholarship offers from Tennessee, Louisiana State, Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina, Oher ultimately decided to play for Ed Orgeron at the University of Mississippi, the alma mater of his guardians, Leigh Anne and Sean Tuohy. His decision to play for the Ole Miss Rebels football team sparked an investigation by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The first issue was that Oher's grade-point average (GPA) was still too low to meet the requirements for a Division I scholarship at the time of the offer from Ole Miss. That difficulty was corrected by graduation, when Oher completed online classes through Brigham Young University. The second issue was the Tuohys' preexisting relationship with the school and the fact that Ole Miss hired Freeze twenty days after Oher signed his letter of intent. Freeze asserted that his position with Ole Miss was not an example of quid pro quo for encouraging Oher to attend the school, but rather the result of his preexisting relationship with Ole Miss offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone. The NCAA did not close its case on its suspicions of collusion. However, it ruled that Ole Miss had committed no NCAA violations in its recruitment of Oher. Freeze was found guilty of secondary violations for contacting other Memphis-area recruits before joining the Ole Miss staff."

Following the 2005 season, just one year after Freeze went from being a high school coach to a Assistant AD for External Affairs at OM, Freeze was promoted to Tight End Coach and Recruiting Coordinator. Ole Miss then filled the vacant Assistant AD for External Affairs position with none other than Barney Farrar, who was just put on administrative leave for his wrong doings in recruiting. Also, Prior to the 2006 season, Maurice Harris was hired by Ole Miss as the Assistant AD for Internal Affairs. Harris is now Ole Miss's current Tight End Coach/Recruiting Coordinator, which is the exact same position that Hugh Freeze held at OM in 2006. Harris's name was listed on 31 occasions in Ole Miss's first Notice of Allegations.

What's interesting this whole scenario just screams "show cause" and "violations" I might have to clench my teeth and watch the blind side to see how Ole Miss does business. Kinda like Madonna going to a village and "adopting a kid".

The book Blindside, not the movie, is must reading for anyone wanting to understand Freeze's role, and how central he was to Oher even being at the HS or with the Toughy's. Plus the joke that the BYU courses were.

100% quid pro quo. Only an Ole Miss homer, an idiot or the NCAA couldn't see it.

Freeze's first stint with Ole Miss lasted 3 seasons, the 2005, 2006 and 2007 seasons. An incredible amount of guys that coached for OM in that 3 year period are now coaching again for Ole Miss, especially when you consider that Ole Miss had a record of 10-26 during that time. They obviously weren't rehired by Freeze for their coaching abilities. Here is a list of guys that coached for OM in 2005, 2006 or 2007 and were hired by OM again at some point since Freeze was appointed Head Coach.

1. Hugh Freeze: Current Head Coach; Ole Miss Assistant AD for External Affairs 2005, TE coach/Recruiting Coordinator 2006-2007.
2. Chris Kiffin: Current DL Coach/Recruiting Coordinator; Grad Assistant at Ole Miss in 2007.
3. Grant Heard: Current WR Coach; Grad Assistant at Ole Miss from 2005-2006.
4. Dan Werner: Current Offensive Coordinator; Co-OC/QB Coach at OM from 2005-2007.
5. Matt Luke: Current Assistant Head Coach/OL Coach/Co-Offensive Coordinator; TE coach at Ole Miss from 2005-2007.
6. Tom Luke: Current Assistant AD for Player Development; Coordinator of Football Operations at Ole Miss in 2005.
7. Maurice Harris: Current TE Coach/Recruiting Coordinator for Offense: Assistant AD for Internal Affairs at Ole Miss in 2006.
8. Barney Farrar: Current Assistant AD for High School and Junior College relations; Assistant AD for External Affairs at Ole Miss from 2006-2007.
9. Chris Rippon: Current Assistant AD for Recruiting Operations; Special Teams Coordinator/DB Coach at Ole Miss from 2005-2007.
10. Lee Wilbanks: Current Assistant AD for Player Personnel; Ole Miss football team Intern in 2006.

From 2005 to 2007, Ole Miss saw two 3-win seasons and one 4-win season. Hugh Freeze has hired rehired 10 guys that coached during that time. TEN. Something doesn't seem right there.

Yep, Hugh Freeze was the one that begged the Head Master to allow Oher to enroll at Briarcrest. The Tuohy's and Freeze have had plans/visions together for more than a decade, and in the end, they will be the main reasons for Ole Miss's downfall.

But Devious, the campus is sooo much prettier now than 10 years ago. That's why these same guys are so important. They have to be some of the best arborist and landscapers in the country. It is why they recruit so well. Beautiful campus....or maybe they all just know the playbook and coordinate with the network. One of the two.

I can see Tunsil sitting there now thinking, "Georgia has a beautiful campus, but so does Ole Miss. Georgia is closer to home, but Ole Miss has a pretty campus. Georgia is a traditional power that sends multiple guys to the NFL every year, but Ole Miss has a pretty campus. Georgia has been my leader for a year and I have built great relationships with their players and coaches, but Ole Miss has a pretty campus. It's a tough decision, but Ole Miss's campus is slightly prettier than Georgia's so I'm going to sign with Ole Miss!!!"

Yep. I don't see how anybody could think that this is not exactly what happened. It really was a simple decision all things considered. Money had nothing to with it. Of course after the gas mask incident, I wonder what part of the beautiful campus these players are really thinking of. The rows of beautiful green herb that is part of the research area or the Grove. I suspect the former.

I'm sure the Rebs will say its just a coincidence that Freeze rehired 10 guys that averaged 3.33 wins per year from 2005-2007. He just likes their coaching styles and love for God.

At some point, too many coincidences become orchestrated occurrences, too much public love for God becomes using his name to create an innocent appearance, and too many mistakes become blatant cheating.

The end is very near for the Rebs and their network, now we just get to sit back and watch the slow death.

-In 2004, Ole Miss signed the #39 recruiting class in the nation.

-in 2005, Ole Miss signs 5* Michael Oher and Freeze is named Assistant AD for External Affairs. Ole Miss signs the #29 recruiting class in the nation. While Freeze may not have been on staff during signing day 2005, he did later receive secondary violations for calling other Memphis area recruits prior to signing day 2005. This is before he was ever hired by Ole Miss. 20 days after signing day Freeze is hired. He was obviously promised the job when he assured Ole Miss's coaches that Oher would be signing with Ole Miss. Why else would a high school coach call players not from his high school and try to persuade them to go to a school that is not even in their home state?

-In 2006, Freeze is promoted to Recruiting Coordinator, Barney Farrar takes Freeze's job as Assistant AD for External Affairs, Maurice Harris is named Assistant AD for Internal Affairs, Lee Wilbanks becomes an intern for the football team, Grant Heard becomes a Graduate Assistant, 10 year showcausee David Saunders becomes LB coach/co-recruiting coordinator, and Dan Werner, Matt Luke and Chris Rippon were all on staff from previous years. Ole Miss goes on to sign the #15 recruiting class in the nation following a 3-8 year on the field. This is all in Hugh Freeze's first year as Recruiting Coordinator.

-When Orgeron is fired and all of these guys leave in Early 2007, Ole Miss drops down to the #31 recruiting class in the nation.

-Fast forward to 2012, Nutt is fired and Freeze and staff come in less than a month before signing day. Ole Miss signs the #58 recruiting class in the nation.

-In 2013, Ole Miss goes 7-6 and Freeze & staff get a year of recruiting and rebuilding the Network under their belt. Ole Miss goes on to sign the #10 recruiting class in the nation.

What is also interesting? There were 5 current and one previous Ole Miss coaches named in the 1st NOA. Five of those six(Freeze, Kiffin, Maurice Harris, David Saunders and Matt Luke) were all on the Ole Miss staff at one point during Freeze's stint at Recruiting Coordinator for OM from 2006-2007. What's even worse? The ONLY guy Freeze chose to retain from Nutt's staff, Derrick Nix, was the sixth Ole Miss coach named in the 1st NOA.

What was the only reason Freeze was ever hired at Ole Miss? The signing of one of his high school players Michael Oher, the adopted son of the Tuohy's, one of if not the biggest OM boosters. Any way you follow it, the blood trail always leads back to Michael Oher, Hugh Freeze, and the Tuohy Family. It's an 11 year ride, that started with an adoption, peaked at 2 consecutive 9 win regular season and will end with lows that will blindside all of the OM faithful. Michael Oher can't hold that blindside forever, it's coming.

These things, they are not coincidences.

Other way around. From Greg Hardy's 247 recruiting profile:

"Hardy was recruited from Briarcrest Christian (Memphis, TN) class of 2006. He committed to Ole Miss on 2/1/2006. He was recruited by Hugh Freeze"

FWIW, kicker Justin Sparks of Briarcrest also signed with Ole Miss in 2005.

Sean Tuohy groomed Freeze for his "mission". Hope he gets adequate notoriety during the crash.

Add in this post I made in February:

Another angle on stuff, "before Freeze".
There is a ton of discussion, obviously pushed by UNM and echoed by lazy reporters, some with agendas, etc about stuff happening before Freeze took over as HC in late 2011. Lately a lot of the talk is about how there appear to be more items that occurred under HC Freeze than we were lead to believe by UNM and their minions.

But let us not forget or gloss-over the fact that Hugh Freeze was hired by UNM in 2005 as Assistant Athletic Director for Football External Affairs. As such, his responsibilities would have included:

Responsible for all administrative aspects of football recruiting. Oversee football clinics, external public relations, education and development while serving as a mentor to student athletes and prospective student athletes. Support Assistant Athletic Director,
Football Operations with camps, game day management and prospective bowl game planning. Other duties as assigned by Assistant Athletic Director, Football Operations.

Recruiting:
Oversee correspondence with prospective student athletes. Manage the PSA database and video library. Implement and evaluate recruiting visits including itineraries, travel and lodging. Serve as football liaison for faculty on official visits. Serve as liaison with
conference services arranging housing and meals for recruiting visits. Supervise education leadership class for teamwork students.

From 2006 through 2007 Hugh was promoted to Recruiting Coordinator & TE Coach, and is credited with being responsible for nine commitments in the 2008 signing class.

In 2006 David Saunders was brought back for his 2nd of 3 stints at UNM.

UNM folks are trying their damnedest to distance Freeze from the Saunders stuff, and they've been largely successful in keeping any connection out of the media. But anybody with half-a-brain should realize there is simply no way Hugh did not know about what Saunders was doing in 2006.

For that matter, Freeze first came to UNM merely 3 years after Saunders first tour of Ole Miss, undoubtedly the time Saunders first set up his cheating scheme. Anybody really think ole Hugh had no clue what had been established by 2002 under Saunders?

Personally, I think this aspect needs to be exposed more than it appears to have been.

THIS (edit to add THIS WHOLE THREAD) is the exact summary I was hoping to see after we started (again) talking about the 2006 Ole Miss staff. Thank you.

Frank Wilson, another successful (suspicious?) recruiter was also on that staff from 2005-2007. Author Bruce Feldman was on Ole Miss' campus during the 2006 football season researching/writing Meat Market.

Seems Ole Miss' cheating under Freeze in 2012-2016 has its roots in 2006.

Had no idea Greg Hardy went to Briarcrest under Freeze. Odd that hasn't been mentioned much.

Sean Tuohy groomed Freeze for his "mission". Hope he gets adequate notoriety during the crash.

Sean Tuohy, a basketball player for Ole Miss and later a basketball radio announcer for Ole Miss, was a volunteer FOOTBALL coach for Briarcrest under Hugh Freeze.

And don't forget the author of The Blind Side graduated high school with Sean Tuohy.

Gosh what a book this is gonna be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The way things are proceeding on all those "mistakes" Freeze and company made, this book(s) could be multi volumes.

So it's well-known that OM got an exception for Barney to recruit off campus when Werner wasn't on the road. Sketchy, but whatever.

Now I'm learning that there was also some exception that allowed Barney on the field on game days. What the hell for? Was it the SEC or NCAA that basically let OM have an extra coach on staff?

From this year's game at Arkansas:

Y'all do remember Mullen hired Wilson. Lasted about 2 weeks and he left to go to Tenn. with Kiffin and O.

Rumor was he left the offices walking in gym clothes.

Sha Nae Nae's brother was on sidelines also with headphones on. i'm sure that isn't kosher under the on field coaches rule

He looks like he is either trying to hold back a fart or he is trying to fart. One of the two.

I've mentioned this numerous times on the board and it just got blown off. It was extremely odd to see an off the field coach being involved as he was on the sidelines. I don't think this is something new to this year, but I'm not sure when it started. I'll see if I can find it in my post history.

Or realized it was just a bit more than a fart. A fart plus if you will.

I thought that was an NCAA violation. And the circumstances on how he was able to be able to recruit off campus throws up a red flag and is still questionable.
