Juco OF/1B Reynaldo Rivera has committed to MSU. Rivera hit .397 with 10 home runs and 67 RBI for Chipola (FL) College as a freshman.

This guy is a HUGE get. 6'6" 250 lbs. Our juco recruiting class is insanely good, and our HS group isn't far behind. Counting the JUCO guys with the HS, we may have a top 3 class. What say you Todd and Msstatebaseball?

Chipola plays high end competition too, so those numbers are legit. Great pickup!

225 lbs, excuse me. And yes you are correct. One of the premier juco baseball programs in US.

This is the guy I wanted us to get who visited a few weeks ago. He had an offer from Auburn, Kentucky, and FIU- which was more dangerous than a lot of fan would realize because they have a coach who has landed a lot of Latino players.

He does have the size to play first base but he has the arm to play the corner outfield and if Cole Gordon takes over first base this year, which I think he will, then I think Rivera will end up in one of the corner OF spots. We also have to get him through the draft as well. If we do that, it’s a huge pick up for us.

Pearson McMahan is a JUCO pitcher that was drafted out of high school. Bryce Hutchinson, Chad Bryant, Zane Stephens, and Aaron Brown have had good summers. Jack Owens doesn't throw all that hard but he is going to be a good pitcher. Jared Liebelt is a JUCO pitcher that will compete for a rotation spot next year.

Now, I will say that I think the 2018 pitchers are better recruits for us in the high school ranks than this year's group so far.

Absolutely! He is walking into a great situation. He has three or four pretty good classes that are partially built. He's taking over a team that just won the SEC and he has some All-American/All-SEC type guys like Pilkington, Mangum, and Rooker among others. Day and night from what Cohen took over- and John deserves a lot of credit for that.

Yes they will be, assuming they get through the draft. Immediate impact coming along with already good roster.
