We had a good thread going a few weeks ago about is this the year the SEC misses the NCG?

Week one could be telling:
WKU beat UK
Okie State beat MSU
Clemson beat UGA

That's going to hurt the SEC East's BCS SOS a good bit (the West a little). If Clemson also beats SC, every one loss team in the East might be out of it depending on how the schedule goes.

If the tide doesn't roll, and their OL did not look dominant, I think it still comes down to UGA vs the West in the SECCG. If Clemson beats SC, and UGA wins the SEC, it could easily be Ohio State vs Clemson/Louisville/Florida State.

Don't forget the team we played yesterday. I don't think they're great, but their schedule is nice. Okla st won't be held to 21 again this year and if their defense keeps playing well they could be undefeated

AL will probably get better. But they better run the table because everyone outside the south wants any one but an SEC team in the NC game. Good chance that happens this year.

The SEC should still easily be ranked #1 by all the computers. Maybe not if it's us and Kentucky winning the divisions while OK State and WKU miss bowls, etc., but it's not like the SEC has to win 100% of its nonconference games to stay #1.

It seemed like the Defensive focus hasn't been there for any SEC team in any of the good games. Not sure if this is due to the changing style of Offenses and the scheming isn't quite there yet, or what. Alabama held VT to 212 yards, but that was a VT offense with 4 returning starters and wasn't supposed to be any good. I guess LSU's looked the best against a good opponent, TCU had a little over 250 yards and their offense should be fine this year.

Georgia got thrashed. Ole Miss was gashed by Vandy. We didn't do so poor on defense until you look at how simple the plays were that they were beating us on - QB runs and weak passes where they had 8-12 yards of space. Texas A&M looked very beatable. If you give up over 500 yards to Rice, I'd love to see what a good offense can do against them (read: not us).

I'd say Florida and South Carolina's defenses looked the best outside of Alabama. The rest of the conference looked like a loose ******.

Bama is so much better than the rest of the sec and country they boat race people just by showing up.
The rest of the conference can be split into 2nd and 3rd tiers.

Are these the stats of the unquestionable best team? I thought lsu and USCe were more impressive. Not saying bama won't get there, but they aren't there now

If you guys are pulling for the sec streak to continue, it's not too early to start pulling for Louisville opponents. It'd be a shame for Louisville to play Ohio state with a 1 loss sec team left out.

I'll be pulling against the Ville and Ohio St all year.

I want Okie St to go undefeated until bowl season and allow only 3 points all year.

A one loss SEC school may still beat out an undefeated Louisville in the computers. Louisville schedule is a complete joke.

wow, unless something changes, they won't play a ranked team until they hit a bowl.

Given the SEC's history, I think a 1 loss SEC team goes in over an undefeated Lousiville.
