Wisconsin always has a good defense. Nationally ranked. They said that it's not real complicated. You must play fast, smart, and physical. That's their belief. And it really is that simple. I think about our lack of effort (play fast), our dumb penalties this year (play smart), and our poor and cowardly tackling (play physical). Defensive coaching and scheme is certainly important. But that doesn't matter if the effort is not there. Playing fast, smart, and physical works at all levels of football. We have to rebuild the culture. We can't accept this lack of effort. It's contagious.
