MSU Police Chief Vance Rice said the language of the ban prohibits the use of charcoal, wood pellets, or other fire cooking methods that produce coals and embers. Gas grills are allowed, but users are expected to maintain maximum fire safety.

Actually, the burn ban as enacted by the ms forestry commission does not ban charcoal grills. This was action taken by the univ to expand on the ban. The statement does make it sound like the ban includes grills but it does not. I asked the ms forestry comm myself last night. I posted their response in the drought thread.
