Great article. That sort of shows the problem with the Heisman. When he was a heisman candidate, he was a good QB. When he wasn't a candidate he was a great QB. It's team award, more than an individual award.

If someone wins it not from the top 5 then that player has to have crazy numbers and big wins toward the end of the year. Dak beats Bama and he at least gets invited to NY. Manziel had crazy numbers and beat Bama. It also helps if someone from a team like Bama or Ohio St doesn't have good numbers. When Mark Ingram won it, he wasn't even the best RB in the SEC but it was Bama's best player on their National Championship team.
