Think ole Tony might be having back spasms till the Playoffs. Other teams who have had the same problems with starters getting hurt early in the season and came back to play in the playoffs and win the SB: Bob Griese, 72 dolphins. But Tony will be available for the Playoffs when that time rolls around.

Romo also isn't Tom Brady. Romo is a good QB but he isn't a great one. Great QBs don't lose in the Playoffs as much as Romo. Dak has improved the entire team's play. He has the IT factor that Romo just lacks.

Ever heard of Don Meredith or Danny White. Just a coincidence they were other great Cowboys QBs who couldn't win the big ones, dam you Bart Starr and Dwight Clark. But if something does happen to Dak they will need Romo in the game. At least just to hand off to Elliot 50 times. Hell Sanchez can't even get a snap right. I've always compared Romo to Craig Morton. A good QB who just can't get it done.

Dak adds a dimension to the offense that Romo cannot. The rollout passes, possibility of running and ability to scramble have forced defenses to defense the offense differently. I think this is the main reason Elliot is doing what he is doing. They have a triple threat offense now, instead of the pocket pass offense under Romo. This allows defenses to pin their ears and come after the QB and stuff run game. They cannot use the same approach with a mobile QB and it's showing.

The main takeaway I've made watching Dak this year, is Hevesy(and Dan) most likely cost us a Crystal Ball in 2014. Just a slim upgrade in OL talent that year and we don't lose until playoffs potentially, if lose at all.

I've got mixed feelings. On one hand, Dak is the man and is getting the job done. On the other hand, he is a rookie who has never experienced a 20-24 game season. He does still have stuff to learn. I think some bench time in mid season might be to his long term benefit. The NFL is not a forgiving league.

In any event, I'm super excited to see Dak lighting up the league at this point.

That's probably correct.

Rouge: that spread option read play got Dallas from 1st at goal at the 9 to 2nd and goal inside the 3 the other night. Great time to call it and get closer to goal line. That play is gone with Romo.

Drunkard: I'm a bit torn too. There's a part of me that would love to see Jerry bench him. It would make his value stay high and possibly even go up. It would also give him time to learn from the sidelines, which he hasn't had a chance to do yet. That's important to young NFL players, especially at QB.

Regardless of who starts, once Romo is healthy, Dallas will have the best backup quarterback in the league.

Romo has only played in 6 playoff games, winning 2. Only years he had a decent supporting cast were 2007 and 2014. Not a very big sample size.

Romo is top 5 in passer rating all time. Also top 5 in 4th quarter passer rating all time.

Romo, if he's 100% healthy, probably has an edge in accuracy especially deep throws. And has an experience edge in reading defenses.

But Dak does seem to have that IT factor, has the running threat which affects defenses and is willing to take the safe plays. With their running game going so well, there's no need to throw a lot of long 50-50 passes. The long drives they're putting together are keeping the defense off the field too.

I like Tony but unless something changes they need to keep starting Dak.

And this is huge. Their defense is not great. But with their running game and Dak's ability to find Witten and Beasley, they are controlling the ball. They are not turning it over, they are grinding out first downs with the running game and short controlled passes, and they are eating the clock. They have very few 3-and-outs and don't give the defense a short field. They are doing a tremendous job of protecting the defense.

The bottom line is that even those that think Romo is better than Dak, can't convince me that Romo can execute the game plan better than Dak. He's not just playing well, he's playing winning football. He is executing the winning game plan for them perfectly.

Dak is a great game manager. And that term is a compliment. Brady, P. Manning, Montana, etc. are/were great game managers. He's taking charge and getting them into the right plays. Reading the defense, pre-snap reads, understanding the down and distance, understanding the situation. Honestly Dak is an MVP candidate at this point.

Asked if quarterback Tony Romo will stay in town to continue to work his way back into playing shape with the fractured bone in his back healed, Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said that all of the injured players are expected to stay and work with the strength and conditioning staff.

Garrett would not offer a timeline on when Romo could return to practice.
