View Full Version : Stupid crap Dan Mullen needs to stop saying...

I'm sick of hearing Dan spout that the problem this year is that he has "raised the expectation level at Mississippi State" and that is the reason everyone is so out of sorts about our 2-3 start. No, no, its not Dan. He acts like MSU fans expect to win every game and that is just blatantly not true. Whether it is Dan's 8th year in 2016 or Dan's first couple of years in 2009 or 2010 the reaction would still be very negative to games where we look lost and play with lack of effort but this year most people were fully aware we would likely be at around the 6-7 win level. However, nobody expected to lose at home to USA and get physically bludgeoned by a decent, but not great Auburn team at home. Not to mention struggling with mighty UMass. We look to be headed for a 4 win season max without major improvement and nobody would have been happy with that even in Mullen's first year. Now yes, had we struggled like this when Mullen first got here (and we did to a lesser degree) there would have been more understanding and patience that the guy needed time to build the program with his players but nobody would have been excited about what they were seeing. Just burns me up that he wants to basically use the excuse that people are only upset because of all his great past success. He should know good and well that besides the on field issues people are pissed at him because he acts disinterested most of the time and continually job shops.

Yet, it is true. He has raised the expectation level. Sold a lot of pitchforks doing it too.

Raising expectations and rivaling crooms performances are two completely different items. Nothing in 2016 angering 99% of the fan base is related to raising expectations. It has everything to do with two performances that were as bad as or worse than any croom coached team.

Dan knows damn well why everyone is pissed...he's throwing the "raised expectations" excuse out there cause he know's the national talking heads don't follow our program close enough to know why we're really pissed. You keep saying raised expectations to the media and they'll repeat it enough that that'll be the national perception and will benefit him down the road (whether he gets canned or has to move on laterally)
