It baffles me that Ole Miss fans will defend their head coach and AD in the face of being repeatedly lied to, and for putting them in a situation that is going to be catastrophic for their program.

If this was happening at MSU, we would have been ready to run Mullen and Stricklin out on a rail months ago.

The entire mess that Ole Miss is in can be traced directly to Hugh Freeze's three biggest mistakes since he became head coach of Ole Miss. They might have gotten away with this wholesale cheating system a little longer with a different coach.

The three things that Freeze did that 17'd it up for them:

1.) He sent the infamous tweet asking anyone with information about cheating to step forward, which was a middle finger to all who knew that there is no way an unproven coach from Arkansas State was pulling in a top 5 class with three of the #1 players at their position to a SEC school that was in the cellar and had one SEC win in two years. Freeze's fault.

2. He immidiately held a press conference after the Tunsil-stepfather incident and said, "That boy was defending his mother." In that ill-advised instant he called the stepfather a wife-beater. The investigation was basically over at that point. Everyone knows that the only way to really get burned in dirty recruiting is if a family member talks, and talk he did. Had Freeze been a wiser, more experienced coach, he would have said what Saban or Mullen would say in that situation, "We are looking into it." and ended the press conference there. Freeze's fault.

3.) On draft night after the leaked social media info came out on Tunsil, Freeze took the Falwell/Swaggert approach to advising a protege and said, "Laramey, just go tell the truth." I am sure what he meant was to go tell the press that-- if asked-- that someone had hacked his account. Though when he was asked, "Did you accept money from a coach?" Tunsil thought back to what his coach had just told him and said, "Yes." Freeze's fault.

Yet they are mad at a rival journalist who has been correct at every turn, disproving the lies, misrepresentations, and falsehoods that have come from the head coach and AD. That is a special kind of stupid.

The hammer is coming soon, and when that day comes, they are going to be so much more pissed off and disappointed because they have been blatantly lied to. Betrayal is a rough emotion, and way worse than frustration or anger.

The entire fanbase are lemmings. Grab a box of popcorn. It's only going to get better from here.

When they get hammered Ole Miss will never get mad, they will play the victim card. They will blame everyone under God's blue heaven but themselves.

I think Dickie Scruggs may be at the center of things for them. He corrupted the judicial process; corrupting Ole Miss athletic recruiting is a minor thins in comparison.

If you had half a billion in cash, no integrity, an oversized ego and a burning desire to see Ole Miss return to pre-integration glory, what would you do?

Scruggs is not a major player but another UNM lawyer is very much involved. Albeit very much behind the scenes, like he has been in other very prominent litigation.
