Holy bag man.

Oh, this is dripping with irony. The original bag man ends up in Oxford right in the middle of an NCAA investigation.

Tis be true. Homers talking about the hire here at the baseball fields here in Oxford tonight.

Say it's a "consultant" job, not on the field

They a little late for a consulting gig. He could have helped them years ago when freeze came on.

Todd4State

Do they really need consulting on how to cheat? Well now that I typed that and the fact that they are currently under one of the biggest investigations in NCAA history maybe they do need a consultant.

Unbelievable, while their under investigation? Hmm, how much money, would it take for Melvin to throw us under the bus?

The day my soon to be 16 year old son was born was on National Signing Day. I told my understanding wife that they were having a signing party at Gloster 205 and did she mind if I went across town to announce there was a new Bulldog Pup over at NMMC. This was in the Jackie years and Melvin and other asst coaches were there. I didn't know him personally, but walked over to circle of dawgs that he was addressing very loudly. He was bragging about how he knew how to get recruiting done and the NCAA could never follow his tracks. He especially pointed out how much Ole Miss hated him and his abilities to get this done. Wonder how much times have changed?

For what it's worth,
When the NCAA lays the hammer, coaches are gone, and players are allowed to leave, they are going to need Melvin to try and recruit what scraps are left over from around the state and surrounding states..

Shit might as well go get Trooper Taylor while they are it ...

I can't help but wonder if his hiring is an effort to come after us. If they can pay him to say what they want to hear about his time at MSU, this could be an effort to keep us from taking advantage of their upcoming troubles.

If they're hiring a football coach with the purpose of trying to take us down, then the NCAA trouble must be worse than I thought

"Consultant" as in they're digging for dirt on State. They know they're going down and they're going to try to take everyone with them. Keep it clean people. Squeaky clean.

Melvin wouldn't tell us about the skeletons in the closet at ole miss I doubt he would rat is out either. But he is getting older and maybe he's got scars. Who knows. I'm not overly concerned at this point.

Getting dirt on us from Melvin would cause him to admit being a part of a staff that skirted the rules. If he does try to throw shade on MSU recruiting, he will be toxic waste for the rest of his career. Plus whatever bs he came up with would have to be substantiated. He hasn't worked here in 5 years. It's too late to be ratting someone out. Like someone said, they're national recruiting is about to come to a screeching halt and they need someone to help recruit MS after the fall.

I think this is the reason.

One of these days they're going to run out of money to pay people off. The list of names must be huge.
