"Prescott didn't really push the ball down the field in the game, not attempting a single pass of 20-plus yards." (But he did throw a 20-yard TD)

"Given his (Gabbert) passing wasn't anything to write home about, and that the deep ball was non-existent (he was 0-for-2 with an interception on pass attempts of 20-plus yards) ...

Good lord, they must have stopped grading after the 1st quarter. Are they trolling for clicks like Cowherd?

could be wrong but I listen to his show at work a lot seems like he uses stats/rating from them all the time. and he's stuck on that push the ball down field / stretch the field narrative

I was messing around on that website and damn- they charge 249 dollars a MONTH for their stats? Absurd.

Now that I focus on pro football more, due to Dak, I'm becoming frustrated at how people look at QBing in pro football. It's like they evaluate everyone in a vacuum without context and they look at players in terms of fantasy points instead of the excellence in which they do their job.

So as for yesterday.

1. Dak was incredible for two series in the 2nd quarter when they were down 14.

2. After those drives, Dak quarterbacked Alabama and just ran the offense and did his job. Dallas' o-line dominated in the 2nd half and left no reason Dallas to attempt unnecessary passes.

3. Pro football analysts conveniently forget that Dak was without one of the best WRs in football yesterday and two starting OL including his LT. Yes Dallas was starting a rookie LT yesterday and people wonder why Dak didn't drop 5 step and slang it down the field.

Is Dak great yet? No. He still has plenty of room to grow as a downfield passer.

Does Dak his job as well as any rookie has done in NFL history? Yes. He a GD field general that runs his team like Warren Buffett does a hedge fund. Who do the NFL analysts think is audibling Dallas into all these great run plays? Who do the NFL analysts think is reading the defenses and audibiling into to the plays that have allowed Dallas to have the highest 3rd down conversion percentage in the NFL?

Call him the black Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson if you want, but he's excellent at doing his job and he does it well enough to believe he will win Super Bowls. He's really good.

Side argument, but pushing the ball down field is important, otherwise you end up with Chad Pennington... A great talent, but when teams realize you can't throw it with any kind of consistency over 25 yards, those safeties can start having a field day.

The thing is, Dak has an arm strong enough to do it, he just hasn't much yet for some reason. Either way, I'd take Dak over Blaine right now.

Warren Buffett hates hedge funds, but I agree that Dak has exceeded everyone's expectations and looks to have command of the Dallas offense.

Tom Brady must suck to these guys as well.

The thing is Dak is doing what Dallas is asking him to do and doing it better than anybody imagined he would. Over half the teams in the NFL would probably trade their first round pick next year for him right now.

Sidenote - Goff may turn out fine, but the Rams have got to be kicking themselves right now.

Not anymore. It's all about Stats. Thanks all of you FF fanatics. All the talking heads esp Herm (Ralph) Edwards saying how Romo will open up the offense more when he gets back or saying it's all elliott. They must be forgetting about the greatest 3 year span in football history the 92-96 Cowboys with TA handing off to E Smith. Dipshits forget team sport and Dak is the leader of it right now.

This sums it up perfectly. Each team has a game plan to win. It is based on the opposition, the team's strengths, personnel, and many other factors. Right now Dak is following the game plan perfectly. The Cowboys want to lean on the O-Line and running game, and want to play ball control with the passing game. They want to control the time of possession and use sustained drives to help protect their defense. Dak is following the script perfectly. He is not turning it over, he is checking into the right plays, he is doing extremely well on 3rd downs, and he has a high completion percentage. He is running the offense like a seasoned veteran and is playing winning football. He has been almost flawless.

Through week 4, official NFL stats have Dak listed as the 2nd best QB in the league with a QBR of 84.2. Matt Ryan (after his huge performance against Carolina) is #1 at 89.5. Wentz is #8.

Let's not forget that Dak could have about 4 or 5 more passing TDs if not for dropped balls or getting tackled at the 1 yard line. He really has been amazing for a rook!

What fantasy football league uses pro football focus ratings?

Numbers like this are fair to use, but they must be used in context, and in a vacuum, they can be misleading. They can also be misleading when looking at a small sample size, like a single game instead of multiple games or a full season to get a better big picture. The sabermetric type numbers also work best with baseball because the pitcher/hitter duel is so isolated it's easy to get a good idea on how good a guy is once you have the sample size. The more team oriented the sport, the more difficult it is to break down a single player's performance out of the context of whole game, and football is the most difficult because there's 11 guys on the field and the gameplan can change so much game to game and dependent on the situation and what the defense gives you. It doesn't mean they are worthless ways to analyze the game though, it just just be a part of the analysis, not the whole analysis.

How is it that Dak can dink and dunk down the field with relative ease for a rookie if the defenses aren't respecting his down field passing ability? Hmm

3 months ago they rated Rawlings the SEC's best pass blocker for this year and this: "Most accurate QB under pressure: Brandon Harris, LSU"
