No, I used to think that too but it's progress towards your next level. and I completely changed the levels last night.
You are the leader of the board by far. I just changed a couple of the higher levels since I checked and only 3 of you are at 1,000. No chance of getting to 10k so now Cigar boy is 5k.

You give them by clicking the Star on anybody's post. It's under their name and the vCash.
You get Rep by someone giving you rep for a good post. I just gave you some for example.

You are more likely to get rep when you give it.

I'm bouncing around some ideas on what else rep might be good for.

Look in the bottom left corner of this post I'm making. You'll see some little icons. One of the icons is a star. Click that star and select "I approve" if you want to give someone reputation. You can also disapprove if you hate a post (which I think people need to use more often). Does that help? Let me know if it doesn't. I'm here to help.
