View Full Version : A depressing thought regarding this Strick situation

At $500,000, Stricklin as our Athletic Director makes $25,000 per year less than Alabama's strength and conditioning coach. Yikes.

Just goes to show the more money that starts flowing in, the more competitive the spending gets. Even though we've got a lot more money now, the gap is still just as big as its ever been vs. the old money teams in the conference.

Bring back Jackie as the AD and announce it the hour after UNM has their probation announced

Let's wait and see what happens. Hell he is a Miss State guy. State might come up with the money to keep him. He might have good will with the boosters. Never know,.

Time to start spending a little of that SEC network revenue, but I'd be more interested in spending it on higher-caliber assistant coaches.

Regardless of how it plays out, the above still remains true. The head of our athletic department is the chief decision maker for personnel decisions, is in charge of overseeing hundreds of millions of dollars worth of fundraising efforts, and works closely with contractors in charge of lavish projects like stadium expansions and renovations. THAT guy makes less than a damn weightlifting coach 70 miles away who can't even recruit or coach X's and O's. It's just crazy when you think about it.

What's Scotts salary based on other AD's salaries.. That's a better comparison ...

He was AD at aTm when he was there so he has the background.

Those reasons are valid and probably why Florida is after him

Have some issues with his relationship with Mullen. Probably friends within the athletic office before Boss/ employee relationship. Hence Strick not as harsh on Mullen.

Got to be a joke. That would be the worst possible scenario from a PR standpoint. Other than some State fans, Sherrill was poison and still is. Besides, word on the ward is that he has alzeimer's..

Mal Moore at Bama makes $600,000 but does have a bonus of like $250,000 he can make. Jay Jacobs makes $615,000. Jeff long at Arkansas is around $900,000. Byrne at Arizona is $600,000. Foley was the second highest in the SEC at $1.2+ MIL. Williams at Vandy blows everyone else away nationally, $3.2 MIL but his situation is very unique and he is also a chancellor, sitting law professor, etc etc. 2013 numbers but I don't think many have changed much. I know Foley was the same and Jurich and they are the # 2 and 3 guys behind Williams

You are being over dramatic here. ADs in general don't make that much money comparatively to college coaches in football and basketball. Bill Battle at Alabama only makes $50k more then the strength and conditioning coach at Alabama and Ross Bjork makes less then Stricklin a year.

Vandy doesn't have an AD so that's a bullshit statement.

Mal Moore has been dead for a couple of years. Isn't Bill Battle the AD there now?

The fact of the matter is Florida doesn't have many choices left so they are over paying Stricklin. Paying Stricklin more then Foley made tells you just how desperate they are. Stricklin was Florida's fourth or fifth choice.

Yep. He had the wrong name but the right salary.

He is what they consider an AD and is listed in salary breakdowns. It's not BS that his situation is unique.

That's right. I did list Moore from the 2013 numbers published for all AD's. Should have clarified that

He is. Was using the 2013 breakdown for all AD's and forgot to clarify that.

Should have clarified. Their article is a bit misleading regarding Vandy. They don't officially have an AD or athletic department so he has a lot more responsibilities then a normal AD.

Oh. Yeah no doubt. It really is and it would take half an hour to write out all his titles. Lol. But he is the one that they recognize on these salaries. Actually surprised it was even listed. They usually don't and don't have to list their budgets and a lot of their salaries. Several private schools don't publish those numbers.

Strick probably deserves a raise, looks like another 200K would get him up in the midst of the SEC. We don't need to get in a bidding war with Florida. Matter of fact, seems like Florida, loves to come raid our house. Pat McMahon, our really good tennis coach, Geoff Collins, where are our old Nuclear engineers? Let's nuke the b_st_rds.
