When the defense puts a spy on the QB with a LB, what are they sacrificing?

What part of the offense should open up due to that?

They're sacrificing someone that could be dropping into pass coverage or rushing the passer. He is basically just there to help contain the QB and keep him from running. An easy way to take advantage of it is to pull him down close, then toss it right over the top of him to a 7-yard crossing route.

Depends on the defensive call. Could give up run leverage, or a zone responsibility, or sacrifice a pass rusher. It depends too much on call and down and distance to give a definitive answer.

"THERE IS AS YET INSUFFICIENT DATA FOR A MEANINGFUL ANSWER."
