I love Hunter. He definitely has the arm and the power to play a long time. The question will still be about his pitch recognition and his strike zone discipline. If he can't let the stuff outside the strike zone go by, then major legume pitchers will have him hitting .210 while he piles up a lot of strikeouts, with very few walks. He certainly hit for average in AAA.

Renfroe has worked his tail off, he has been successful at every level, no reason why he can't do the same. I hope the dude makes millions as he is definitely one of the good guys and everyone should be pulling for him

You obviously haven't paid much attention to the Padres outfield situation this year. The best batting average for an outfielder that has played at least 100 games for them is Matt Kemp who hit .262. Their outfield is completely devoid of any offensive output. Renfroe doesn't have to be Mickey Mantle to stay up with them.

After 50 AB's what will his average be? I'm betting between .285 and .310. Maybe that's overly optimistic, but I think the guy has that professional level of concentration and work ethic. Good luck to him!

Didn't see game, but renfroe PH for leadoff guy that hits lefty..Jon jay (another lefty) was on deck. Dbacks had lefty on mound and wanted to face lh hitter.
