He may be a shady character but he can recruit and coach. Louisville looks good. Their QB is really good.

If I was lsu, I'd go after Petrino and Derek mason as DC (assuming he's fired). I'd retain ed O as dline coach for recruiting.

I would call Petrino before anyone else if I was LSU.

I'd call jimbo first, but I don't think he'd leave

For lsu, I'd say it's possible. I don't think he'd leave for anything less than a powerhouse program

I'd like to have Petrino w/Mason as DC, although Sirmon may turn out pretty good. I wish our offensive coordinator was as creative and deceptive as Petrino is offensively ... and his O linemen look well coached. And the team speed looks pretty good. Their average recruiting rankings are in the 30s usually.

ETA: That true SO QB is looking pretty good.

It would be interesting for sure. I remember when Petrino went to Louisville after all his problems, he was extremely grateful for the Louisville & made some comments like he'd never leave again.

I thought of that and thought he may stay there no matter what. They gave him a second chance and he's locked in up there.

Isn't he the guy who left the Falcons in the middle of the night though for Arkansas? Can never really tell what a coach may do.

I don't think he will, especially if Lamar Jackson is there.

Good point... although if Petrino plans to coach a while, Jackson won't be there very long and recruiting isn't petrino's strong point

I'd call Petrino. Look what he's doing to Jimbo today. Plus, he has proven he can do it in the SEC with much less talent than LSU has. Arkansas was well on their way to winning the SEC before his little motorcycle ride.

I thought they might make a big comeback in the second half like they did against the Bears, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen. Louisville is pretty darn good.

Offense, defense......good grief. Does Louisville get that much better athletes than the Dogs?? Petrino apparently can coach defense also....how do you think they would do with the “PCbearsharkrebels"??

dawgday166

I been researching this just now ... mostly 3* guys. Just better coaching I think. Much, much better.

ETA: I have noticed one thing tho. All are tall, lanky, long wing-span and fast guys. Not 5' 7" 165 lb scat backs. I'm starting to think we take those guys cause they be easy to recruit.

Louisville's AD said something to the effect of they would be contractually protected when Petrine was offers the job. Think somebody asked the question of whether there was concern Petrine would bolt at the first opportunity given his history. The way the response was worded made it sound like maybe Petrine agreed to some terms that would not be agreed to in a Norma situation just t get back to major college football.

there is almost no disparity in talent level based on recruiting rankings...

Petrino would bail on Louisville faster than Michael Vick could run over a pitbull with a motorcycle (with a hot, younger white chick on the back)...

I know Beardsharks who are now claiming credit for Louisville win. Saying they gave them the blueprint to score on FSU. They have to make everything about Ole Miss.

How does Petrino do this? He recruited at basically the same level as us at Arky and basically the same level at Louisville. The guy can flat out coach and get guys that can play his system

Lower level than us. His sophomores play too. None of this "we're young" crap.

One thing I've noticed is Louisville is not taking their foot off the gas. They have the killer instinct I wish we had.
