Ok, so it's that time of year when it is nearly impossible to get rid of the fire ants. They have crossed the line and found multiple ways into my house the last few weeks. I have sprayed the perimeter multiple times and put ortho max on beds but they keep popping up and finding a way to my garbage. Someone please help me.

Call Hugh Freeze and ask him to have a team prayer that God would rid your home of ants. ***

Or, try this link if store-bought stuff hasn't worked.

Dry weather is driving them in. I've dealt with same issue. I ended up having to have an exterminator come out and treat mounds in the yard and spray exterior of the house. Crap we're allowed to buy is all but worthless. One thing you can do is make absolutely sure there isn't the first crumb of food to be found on the floor. I have two kids so my house is usually a Golden Corral for ants. Even after all the spraying (yourself or exterminator) you can still have stragglers already in the house. If you spray make sure you get all the way around doors and windows and create a complete barrier I the walls. Little farts will come in from everywhere. Last year had em coming in from a light socket. Last piece of advice. When you think you've sprayed enough...spray that much again.

Ortho Home Defense has always worked for me. Spray it inside and out.

Best thing I have found is BIFIN II. It is actually a termite poison but will kill fireants in minutes. I spray the entire yard with it a couple of times a year and they won't even build in my yard. Probably wont have any termites in the mulch either. I get it at the local farm supply store. For mounds, I mix 1 oz per gallon in an old watering can and saturate the mound usually getting 3-4 mounds per gallon.

Best method is to keep poisoning or watering down their hills so they move to your neighbor's property!

My trick is sugar water and borax acid. They take that shit back to the queen she eats it they all die.

Buy a 5 lbs bag of sugar and sprinkle it in your neighbor's yard. Works like a charm!

all of these are good ideas... I'll add two of my favorites that have not received mention:

1) Bengal Ant Killer - Lowe's - It takes very, very little to kill a mound and wipes em out (almost) the same day.
2) 2478

Permethrin or demon... Kills everything big enough to live inside and out. I spray baseboards, window seals and doorframes every other month. Spray outside once a month.

Thanks for the suggestions, I figured all this dry weather has not been helping. Just got back from the co-op with some BIFIN II. Hope this is the answer.

I have noticed that they are coming in through the water hose faucets outside. Gonna put some caulk around that too.

I would say that's dirty, but I am considering this because my neighbor has a damn colonel Reb flag flying off his front porch.

In that case, get about 20lb of salt too!

Ortho Fire Ant Killer (sometimes labeled as Orthene). Put a small amount on the mound and they're all dead in hours. Edit to add: it stinks like the worst crap you've ever taken so don't use it inside! You have been warned!

Advion Ant Gel Insecticide with Plunger, 1.06 oz. Pack of 4 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004NS0HT4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_STg2xbM6NGG0E

This stuff is the only thing I've found that works. Put a little bit where they ants are entering the house and there will be a pile of dead ants within a few hours. They also ants tend to eat their own dead, so they'll end up eating the poisoned ants and taking it back to the rest of the mound. Whenever we see them, we find their point of entry, put a bit of this down, and within a day won't see anymore for months. No smell. We usually put a box or something over it for a few days to make sure the pets don't lick it, but otherwise that's it.

+2. I just spot spray when I see them. Bifen is awesome. Those little bastards are in a pile dead the next day. I should try spraying the yard.

Yes bifinthrinis an excellent insecticide, very good on worms. They best defense against fire ants is Fipronil, can be purchased as Termidor.

I'd suggest a cigarette lighter for the flag.

Bifen is great against the mosquitos that hang out in your shrubbery. Gets rid of them fast.
