View Full Version : Predictions for Okie State Game

MSU 34 Okie St. 28

In my opinion we should be able to have success running the ball and slowing down the game just enought to get the win. I am worried about Josh Stewart, but I think we will be able to get just enough pressure to keep him somewhat contained. Offensive line for OSU is now down to (2) returning starters. As long as we don't turn the ball over and slow the game down I think we can wear them down. All our players have been hearing is how great OSU is, and I think they will come out ready to prove something. Just my prediction, lets hear them!

State 35 OK State 31.

Russell has over 300 passing and LDP breaks 100 rushing with one long run included (50 or more yards). Throw in some Robinson up the middle pounding to control the LOS and its a good day for the dogs. Defense comes out with something to prove and a chip on their shoulder, hold OK State to 31 (impressive considering the scoring threat they are). 2 turnovers by our Defense with 1 late to seal the game.

Here's to optimism

Whoever wins the red zone, wins the game. I like our chances but the DL is scaring me now and I'm a little worried we're going to try to be cute against Gundy on National TV instead of just being happy with a 3 yard and cloud of smoke offense.

I can't tell you how badly I hope I'm wrong.

This is exactly what I've been worried about. We will try to match them offensively and sling the ball around too much. We will be kicking ourselves in the ass sunday morning because we should have run the ball more.

We rack up some juice points and leave them sticky. Unlike the bowl game- we notice that we are having success in the run game and stick with it

DawgInMemphis

We run run run the ball and impose our will on them early and often, with a few play action passes and screens scattered in. We keep their offense off the field and wear their defense down. The game is close entering the third quarter before we begin pulling away as our stable of RB's begin grabbing big chunks of yards at a time and our D makes a few big plays. We control the clock and play old man style football. Good State - 38, Bad State 24.

Or, we try to play Big 12 football and throw, throw, throw and before we know it we've lost by 14.

With Veazey's ridiculous prediction this morning, the other predictions on this board, and the inconsistent predictions by the media, I have come to one conclusive fact: NO HAS ANY FREAKING CLUE WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THIS GAME, AND, IF THEY SAY THEY DO, I CALL BULLSHIT AND SAY THEY ARE LYING!

3-2 MSU wins.

It's been pointed out before, but our DBs are really not extremely inexperienced as a group. Love played extensively, and Calhoun played more than most think. Jay Hughes played a lot, and obviously Whitley is as experienced as it gets. They are mostly new starters, but they've all been through battles on the highest level.

I have a feeling the Cowboy defense won't have an answer for Dak Prescott. OSU will score points, but the Good Guys will take the momentum and control the game emotionally. A few key forced fumbles will kill the morale of the orange and black. With all that said, I believe the score won't do justice to the final product.

You can also get really good lines on some games week 1.

Louisville @-20.5 against Ohio. You know they have to run the score up for style points this year.
Alabama @-20 vs Va. Tech. They always come out the first game prepared.
South Carolina @-12.5 vs UNC. Clowny going to go nuts! USC wins by 21 or more.

Those are my 3 picks of the week.
I also like Florida to cover.

I think VZ predicted a blow out score. I didn't see it but someone told me about it this morning. I can understand that prediction though.

I think betting in week one is more of a coin flip than other weeks. After having games to watch and data to look at, I like my odds better betting against the general public. I don't gamble on games regularly though, but I have in the past.

I think he predicted 41-14.

I can understand the prediction that we give up 41. I can't at all understand the prediction that we only score 14. That would be a massive disappointment. We scored 17 on LSU and only scored fewer than 14 against Bama and A&M. OSU's defense is neither of those, and our offense should be better this year.

ETA: OSU gave up 14 or fewer points in 5 games last year - Savannah St, Kansas (in a monsoon), Iowa St, TCU, and Purdue in the bowl game. I feel confident we can do better than that.

OSU has 7-8 very talented WR's they can and will rotate. Gonna be tough for our guys to keep up imo

Uh, I didn't say how our DBs will perform against OSU because I don't know. I was simply saying I don't think calling them 'very inexperienced' is exactly accurate.

Said it before, and I will say it again, if we don't crack twenty, the entire offense staff needs to be gone. See ya. Having said that, this is a game I have a good feeling about. I feel like we restore some pride in this one, and State moves forward with a victory, a hard fought one, but a win none-the-less.

Can we run the ball? That's the key.

Things we know: Okie State will amass passing yardage. They will score points. They are almost a shoe-in to score 30 per game. We won't get a lot of pressure on their QBs because they get rid of the ball so quickly. They have experience on defense but their experience is that they give up points. Their safeties lead them in tackles, so they should be vulnerable to the run, which will make them vulnerable to the play-action pass.

We need to control the ball on offense, establish the run, beat them down up front. Later in the game hit them with play action. On defense we need to disguise coverage, hope for a mistake or two and capitalize on them.

I have a funny feeling we win this game, but it may just be gas. I felt like we would be blown out early, but I'm becoming increasingly optimistic.

Big XII - 28

I just don't think enough people realize what our overall talent level is player 1 through player 85. If what Im hearing from people that know is true, this should be Mullen's best team, which shouldn't be surprising in year 5 of his tenure. That is what people are forgetting, its year 5 of Mullen's program. We can lose NFL players and pick up right where we left off. That couldn't happen when Croom was here or even when Jackie was here, but now with our redshirting program and Balis, the talent we will put on the field is going to surprise some people (Not everyone).

By about 5:30 pm cst, you will be hearing cowbells and chants of SEC! SEC! SEC!.

I hate to predict a defeat, but after watching some of their footage, I think they'll have little problem scoring early. Especially since our secondary is a new unit. They are very very quick and execute with ease. Nobody has time to rush the qb, because the ball gets released almost immediately. I just want to see us force some punts, esp in the first half and I'll come away impressed with the new D. I expect us to pass as much as rush. Tyler should be ready to redeem his last outing. But these guys play at warp speed. 45-28 OSU

MSU 31 OSU 28, we win TOP big time and get the win. Guys im strong about my strategy against a team built like OSU. You have to keep their offense on the bench drinking ****ing capri suns or whatever pussies in the big 12 drink. We need to heavily win time of possession to win this game. We cannot get into a shoot out with them, and the reason is because les can't call worth a damn. I have been against him for a long time. If we run the ball and stick to it then their wonderful receiving corp will be sitting on the bench most of the time. I think our entire team will be improved from last year. If our strategy and play calling gets right we win this game. If it does not then we have a long season ahead of us.

ETA: follow blueprint for the Florida win in the swamp.
