View Full Version : Hmm ... Tennessee just fumbled and lost a punt

Looked pretty good on defense though. I'm still not convinced they're as good as everybody says though.

And App State just scored a TD off that fumbled punt. Tenn defense didn't look all that great on that series ... gave up lots of rushing yards, and the TD.

I'm with ya, I'm not buying into the Tennessee hype just yet. That being said they have a soft schedule. When are teams gonna quit scheduling app state. Dang I wouldn't want to play them. They come into these games with nothing to lose.

They are getting gashed up the middle. Not a great start to the hyped year of the Vol. 7-0 App State.

Yea, I like the TD, and I'd like to see TN lose, but not to App State. Makes the SEC look bad, in turn makes us look bad.

The SEC Network announcer sure is a Tennessee homer. I know he's well known from his voice, but can't place who he is.

It's musburger and Jesse Palmer

I don't see the love for Tn. They played a soft schedule last year to get their wins. Their coach should have been fired after all their recent legal problems and the financial settlement pd by the university. I can't stand to hear Brent Musberger do a game. I wish he would retire.

Yes, of course. Musburger.

This is what I love about football.

Tennessee may turn out to be a quality team and maybe the tallest midget in the East, but all the off season hype in the world doesn't change the reality once the ball is kicked off.

Hype doesn't execute plays. When the ball is kicked off, we find out who can play and who can't.

Haha. But only if you make the extra point. They missed. 13-3.

The App St OL is pushing Tn around. I hope they beat Tn and it's looking good right now. They and their coach are about as arrogant in the East as UNM in the West. I hope the missed x point doesn't come back to haunt them.

Preseason predictions in college football(except Bama) are almost completely useless. Teams and players change way to much from year to year.

Why is it hard to believe? Because the media told you TN was good?

Tennessee hasn't been good in 10 years.

Yeah, that's most likely the reason, or at least most of it. Plus, they're an SEC school ... supposed to be good. I didn't even know where App State was located until they said it was Boone, NC, a few minutes ago. But they're a spunky team for sure.

I didn't get the UT love to begin with. The Vols preseason is beginning to sound like a broken record.

This^^^^ every year the same old story, Tennessee gonna be really good this year. They gonna have to convince me on the field first.

They are the ones that beat Michigan in the big house several years ago when no one was expecting the game to be close.

Tennessee is just another example that better appreciate all we have with Mullen.

Tennessee is hyped every preseason because they have an excellent program or did. Until they fired Fulmer and made bad hire after bad hire.

Ap St lost to Clemson and Arkansas State last year. 2014 they lost badly at Michigan to open the season.

No excuse for UT tonight.

Looks like the heat is starting to become a factor. App State players starting to cramp up. If they have enough in the tank they can pull the upset.

That's what I want to know. They had a play end with 27 seconds left and a timeout remaining, and didn't get the next play off until 7 seconds to go. And Musburger and Palmer were completely oblivious to it. Either the ESPN graphics guy f-ed up and was showing too many timeouts left, or it was one of the top 5 college football coaching blunders of all time.

They had the to's left but they had been running the clock down all night and just screwed up. It was a massive screw up.

Part of the blame was on a slightly earlier play where the runner chose an extra yard over getting out of bounds. A lot of players will instinctively do that, but a truly great player will stay focused enough to realize that unless it's 4th down, the extra yard or two is almost never more valuable than time on the clock.

Yea but again if you realize the clock is running as the coach you have to call TO when the guy doesn't get out of bounds. That's first day stuff.

Tn may improve but they don't look like a powerhouse to me. Their obnoxious fans singing Rocky Top like they just won the National title.
