Does anyone know how to do this? I'm guessing that DirecTV and/or ESPN has some code enabled so you can't record to DVD?!
I'd love to save the games I have on the DVR instead of deleting.

I could do it on my Dish receiver before I got the Hopper, but can't do it with the Hopper because there basically are no outputs. I've got one of the first Hoppers, so the new ones may be different.
I can't remember exactly how I did it but it was pretty simple.

My cable is with Uverse. I have a Toshiba unit that has built in VHS and DVD capability which I have used for years to convert old VHS programs to DVDs. I set it up during football season. Outputs from Uverse DVR box to inputs on the Toshiba unit. Outputs from Toshiba to inputs on TV. I can then record a game onto VHS or DVD....however, at times I am not allowed to record to DVD due to 'copyright'. Don't think I have ever been stopped from recording to VHS with this set-up.
