Holes made by the OL that are big enough that my 43 year old out of shape ass could run for a first down through.

1. I want to see the offensive line look right & physical. Last year, we couldn't run the ball against anyone, so, even though it's South AL. Just the offensive line working as a cohesive unit will make me feel better.

2. A running back, other than Holloway, showing vision, burst, and the ability to hit the hole quick.

3. I want to see Fitz come off his first read & hit some receivers in the short to intermediate passing game.

4. Tackling. Our "Hawk tackling" sucked last year. I want to see polished tackling from game 1.

5. Our defense flying around. I want to see speed on the field. The defense will make some assignment mistakes, but I want to see us play faster.

1. No injuries.
2. Command by our QBs
3. RBs trucking people and not going down on first contact or tripping over themselves getting out of the backfield. In other words, the 3rd, 4th and 5th string RBs.
4. Aggressive D with corners in press coverage and everyone else with their ears pinned meeting at the QB.

This all day. I would also like to see a QB take control and make smart decisions. Not necessarily just throwing bombs but making the right reads and running the offense.

1. shump at lb

2. fitz with absolutely no Williams

3. no upperclassmen starting over underclassmen

4. dear and lee at tailback

5. Hev fired in the pregame ceremony

6. State flag flown in the first half and taken down at halftime

7. The diamond formation

1. PHYSICAL on both sides of the ball.

2.A return to a run-first/run heavy offense.

3. Defense doesn't miss tackles.

Basically, I'm looking for indicators of mindset.

1. Utter domination of an over-matched team, with backups getting plenty of playing time.
2. No injuries
3. Hopefully a clear indication of which QB is the likely starter going forward

I'm not sure there's much positive that can be learned playing a cupcake...so I think it's more about what we don't want to see, such as:
1. Our O-line struggling in any way, shape or form, with the possible exception of things like an occasional false-start. Don't want to see them struggle with the opposition
2. Poor decision-making by our QB
3. RB's unable to read and take advantage of holes
4. CB's getting roasted
5. Front 7 not bringing serious heat

A lot of clouds

Play vanilla but still rack up over 450 yards.
2RB's around or over 100 yards
A basic formation defense that causes no gains or TFL
Force a few turnovers.
A top ten sportcenter type play so we can get some publicity

1) OL know their assignments and look physically dominant across the board.
2) RBs to have good patience and show good vision.
3) Fitz show that he's the true long-term starter.
4) Defensive dominance.
5) CBs be able to cover WRs even when we don't bring pressure.
6) Don't look sloppy for more than 1 or 2 drives.

A team that could run the ball every single play if we desired and still dominate, but chooses to throw some and looks crisp doing it (with Fitz).

A defense that completely smolders the run game, and is aggressive and physical in the secondary. None of that 10 yard cushion with easy completions crap.

Solid kick returning, clean fielding of punts, made field goals.

No injuries.

Basically....We need to be able to Run the Ball and Stop the Run

That is a painful memory. "Hawk tackling" it still burns in my soul. Just a good dominate running game to the tune of 300 yards would be great to go along with 200 yards passing with no INT's. And a defense that only allowed 150 yards of total offense.

Not worried about anything but the OL. QBs will be fine. Defense should dominate. I think we will be able to tell a lot more than people think from Saturday. Last year we struggled on the OL vs Troy. USA is better than Troy. Please block them

With you. Want to see our defense look dominant.
Basically, want to see both our O and D line dominate the game.
Don't want to see our CBs get beat often. Ok with some miscommunication and blown assignments early with the new scheme, but do not want to see our corners just getting beat.

2) Know beyond doubt who needs so be this season's QB going forward
3) Nobody in concrete shoes getting 15 carries unless it translates in at least 125 yards

All the predictable starters ruling each series after the first two.

In no order after first two:

Limit their scoring to 13 or less, and only 1 td, either early, or in garbage.

We score at least 40.

Couch makes 2 or more receptions.

Jordan Thomas drops jaws on a play.

Mixon is the real deal and scores a td.

Two bench warmer Rb's combine for td, and get yards with ease.

Shumpert looks different.

Damian plays well

Fitz throws accurately and is sure footed.

O-line isn't challenged all day long.

At least 3 sacks on D.

At least 1 interception.

Big hits and violent tackling at times.

Bigger crowd than expected.
