As many of you know I'm a saltwater guy. My bass fishing consist of fishing small lakes and ponds in the neighborhoods I grew up in. Well I've made 2 trips to the rez in my yak and the last one I fished with a frog the whole time. Lily pads are everywhere in P Bay. This has to be the the most exciting bite in bass fishing. I had 4 blow ups and didn't land a single damn one but I'm hooked. I get too excited and can't count 1,2,3 set the hook. I thought I got the last one but he came off right at the yak. Already can't wait to get back out. Also, I'm throwing one in my saltwater box for reds.

ETA- had 2 real curious gators come out of the pads to see what bait kept swimming by them. One cast I threw in the pads and put it right on a small gators heads causing him to jump and thrash. That will get your blood pumping in a yak

I grew up fishing with frogs/rats on guntersville lake in Alabama. That lake is full of milfoil and the bass get stacked up in that stuff. Pulling a white rat across milfoil is one of the most nerve wracking types of fishing I've ever done. There's the anticipation of the blow up, the blow up, the fight, then you lose about half of them down in the junk. Awesome.

scum frog.... don't lay into it until you either see the line moving, or feel him.... I know, I've been doing this for 30 years and still jerk it out of their mouth...lol

I have a black and yellow spro that I use to kill the bass with a couple of years ago.

Beast, if you were tossing your frog around gators noses, your lucky you didn't go for a ride. I've actually seen one come off the bottom and dive bomb a frog. And I'm talking like an 8 or 9 footer. My partners reel melted on the inside. It looked like the lizard version of a great white smashing a seal.
But seriously, frog fishing is the best, and typically what I do in tournaments out there from May to July. For some reason, I never could find a good frog bite out there this year.

Have to wait until you feel them pull before you set the hook. Easier said than done.

You can also try pitching a worm around the edges of those pad fields.
