1) We ARE going to ditch Direct, too expensive for what we get
2) We ARE going to a an internet-based stream.

3) We want: SECN, NFL Network, Fox News, ESPNs and wife wants Food Network and TBS

4) We need a DVR involved.

I've heard good things from sports fans about PS Vue and satellite cutters w/Apple TV.

I've heard pretty good things about Amazon Fire TV and Sling,

Now I'm just confused. I need some honest answers and advice.
Thx

Buy an Amazon Fire Box and subscribe to PS Vue. I've got both and I'm happy. Can't have DVR with Sling TV. NFL network is on the way for Vue. Everything else you want is already on it. You can run Vue on a Roku btw, but I prefer the Fire TV. It's personal preference.

Oh yes....there is a Cord Cutters group on Facebook that can answer any question you have. Good info there.

1) Do you or kids have PS3/4?
2) Multiple different streams to other devices?
3) Access to local market?

No kids here, but I understand you can have multiple streams. Up to 5 I think. As far as PS3 goes, don't know much about it. I've read where some people stream Vue with it, but most people say they have better success with the Fire Box. You will need an antenna for local channels. Mine is a simple $15 indoor one that picks up all 10 channels in my area. Some people put up outdoor models. My picture quality is better than I had with Comcast cable. I subscribe to the mid-tier 70+ channel package with Vue for $35/mo.

Look at these sites for additional info.

Agree on the FireTv and PS Vue....I've had them for months and love it!! I can't offer any insight into the multiple connections though.

I just subscribed this week to PS Vue on the Roku. I'm still learning and haven't figured out the DVR yet. I understand it's cloud stored and you have like 28 days in which to watch your shows.

The middle tier package, which is $34.99 I believe, comes with the SEC Network. You can have up to 5 simultaneous streams. It also has a free 7 day trial.

No local channels, but there are On demand channels for ABC, NBC, and Fox

I've thought about trying the Vue with Amazon Fire, but what about CBS? I only watch it for SEC game during season, but still don't want to miss that.

I'm 60 miles from Memphis, 40 from Tupelo and 85 from Columbus. Will I be able to get these stations with an antenna? And when y'all say antenna, are y'all talking rabbit ears sitting near my tv or will I have to erect a pole in my back yard? (Which ain't happening with my wife).

Just make sure that whatever ISP you use has a large data cap (or even better no cap). I've been seeing more and more cable companies imposing small caps to drive people back to cable.

What ISP speeds does everyone find they need to do streaming where performance isn't impacted?

I put my address in here and it said I could pick up 3 pbs stations. Lovely.

So since I have AT&T (antichrist) internet, according to this thread if I got Amazon firebox and ps Vue, I would have pretty much all stations except local?? Can it be configured so another TV in the house can watch a different station or would that have to be another box? This is all new to me but I have GOT to reduce my satellite bill. What else do I need to know??

Here are links to ps vue and the firesticks. This will lay out everything you can stream on and if you may be able to stream on a smart tv. I do not have ps vue but I am looking to cut the satellite and this is an option. Fire tv will let you download Kodi and that will open up content such as HBO or Sunday Ticket from reddit streams.

The PS-Vue and fire stick is interesting to me... but the cloud based dvr is far from very good from what I read.
If you wanted to have a dedicated computer dvr, Playon looks interesting...

How far do these antenna's reach?

Where are they located in your house?

Does anyone live in the middle of nowhere MS and pick up local channels?

This is the only holdup for me cutting the cord.
