But the 6-foot-3, 345-pound Valentine needs to complete one course during LSU’s summer intersession to become eligible for the season, multiple sources told The Advocate. The summer intersession began Monday and runs through Aug. 20.

He spent the spring and summer at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College qualifying academically after a brief stop in Yuma, Arizona, at Arizona Western, a junior college football powerhouse. He was dismissed from Arizona Western following an arrest after playing in just six games last fall.

On Oct. 15, 2015, Valentine was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor, according to court records obtained by The Advocate. The court dismissed the charge a month later. The arrest stemmed from a physical altercation.

Corey Thompson fractured his lower leg at practice Wednesday and is expected to miss some early-season game action — the third member of LSU's front seven defense to suffer an injury during the first week of preseason camp.

LaCouture and end/outside linebacker Isaiah Washington were lost for the season after suffering serious ligament damage in their knees during Sunday's practice. Thompson's injury is not season-ending, but his recovery is expected to span more than a month.

Good article. Apparently .. MSU recruited Valentine BUT LSU is the ONLY Div 1 school that he was going to be eligible to play at this year because of JC transfer rules. Even though he has 3 years of eligibility left .. he can declare for the NFL next spring.
