As some of you may or may not know, my nephew Paddy was born a few years back with a congenital heart condition. Gregg Ellis wrote a great article about Paddy and the fight he was going to have to go through while he was working for the Daily Journal. The little fella had several heart surgeries early on in his life, with the chance that there could be more to come. Well we have reached that point. This Thursday, my buddy, my little hero is having open heart surgery to replace a valve in his heart. And his is a great big boy of about 8 years old. Please do me and my brother Robert a huge favor a pray for this little guy. He has been through stuff most of us as adults have never been through and always comes out like a champ. But I can't even put myself in my brothers and my lovely sister in laws place and know what this feels like inside.

Where is he having the surgery done?

Thanks for the support guys. It means a lot. The surgery is being done Thursday morning at Le Bonheur in Memphis by Dr. Knott Craig. He's the one who did the full open heart repair at 5 months old. To say we are scared is a vast understatement. They are assuring us that everything will be fine, but it's of little comfort right now. Any thoughts and prayers you can send our way is greatly appreciated.

Paddys surgery is scheduled for 7am tomorrow and should take 3-4 hours. Please pray for the surgeon and for peace for my brother and all of our family. Gonna be a rough day. Thanks again guys

Will be praying hard for him. We adopted a little boy from China last year with several heart defects, and will have to have the same surgery as your nephew when he is about 8, (he is almost 4 now). He, like your nephew, has already had an open heart surgery). Keep us posted.

Wanted to update everyone, we are home. Everything went as well as it could have. He's up and moving around and doing really well. Our family is humbled and grateful for all of the support that everyone offered. Thank you all for the donations, thoughts, prayers, messages and concern you all showed. He had people from all over the world looking out for him and lifting him up in prayer and we are truly honored. Again, thank you all very much.
