So the first preseason game of the year won't happen. The NFL should be embarrassed for this one.

And that Tom Benson gave them $11 million last year so this very thing wouldn't happen. Goodell needs his ass whipped as this happened on his watch. Players, HOFers, and fans cheated tonite.

What I don't understand is how the paint could be like concrete. I would assume it's the same paint they use on every artificial turf in the nation.

Did Favre of somebody sneak in some quickcrete as a joke?

Since there is no link, I figure I'm supposed to guess why it's cancelled

Tom Benson donated Saints old turf to the hall of fame stadium in Canton. Someone at the hall of fame put the wrong kind of paint on the turf. Pellets came to the surface and parts of the turf were either extremely hard or soft and thus unsafe. Packers and Colts players and personnel rejoice over not having to play a meaningless game. NFL looks dumb.

what I do not get, why didn't they just cut that area of the field out and sow in new carpet from shaw or something. I watched the field turf guys install the carpet and infill it at Caledonia's new practice facility a couple of weeks ago. They put down about a quarter of the field and sowed it, rubber pellets, and it was ready to plan in like a day. Surely someone has some turf somewhere to get that changed out in a matter of hours. It may have looked stupid, but those fans drove some distance to get there. The NFL should give them the ticket price, hotel price, and probably something like a 1000 dollars on top of that to each and every fan there because of this issue. Ticket refund only doesn't cut it.

Also they shouldn't paint these logos, they should insert them into the turf in a standardized 14x14 patch at the hash mark logo and a 30x30 for the midfield patch. This should be standardized and easy to switch out in a matter of a day.
