The 2016 season is so close I can almost taste it, I'm leaning toward 8 wins, and I think Fitz is going to be our guy under center, Perhaps we revert to the "Relf-coast offence" that Mullen has run to perfection at times. Any thoughts?

I think we've done this, but I understand the impatience.

I think the over/under for me is 8 wins, and I think Dear and Gray have huge offensive years, while Green and Bryant show out on D.

I'd go with an O/U of 7.

8 wins regular season and 9 with the bowl win. Mullen wins the games he is supposed to win and loses to LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, and A&M. The only swing game would be if we beat A&M to get to 10-3 with the bowl win. Our schedule is just too easy for me to say we aren't getting at least to 8.

We have Auburn, A&M, and Arkansas at home. No way we lose 2 out of 3 of those games.

I would hope we wouldn't lose two of those, but it's not entirely out of the realm of possibility. We've gotten some breaks against Arkansas, so they're due against us, although they lose a lot from last year. You never know what to expect with Auburn. Same for A&M. We could win all three, and we could lose all three.

8 wins is a good bet, imo. I also think Dear has a big year and I think we see Holloway used very efficiently due to the offensive adjustments Mullen makes for Fitz.

I see us beating AU and Arkansas. Gus is just not a good college coach and Bert lost some really great players off that Arkansas team.

Vegas says 6.5. Missouridawg says over. For $200.

I also took TN over 9.5
Alabama over 10
And LSU over 10

That's 3 really good teams. While 2 of 3 is probably the best guess, "no way" is a bit strong.

I'll be happy w/bowl birth and non-losing season. That said, I'm going 7/8

Very hard to predict this year due to O-line. We've lost 2 starters there, but then again, the line performed poorly enough last year that losing them may not be as bad as it otherwise could have been.

If our O-line play is as bad or worse than last year, we could go 5-7. If this year's line improves dramatically, I could see us going 10-2 plus a bowl win to go 11-2.

I tend to be more optimistic, so I'll predict our line plays better, and we'll go 9-3 regular season, with a shot at 10 wins with the bowl.

fair enough... I'm thinking yall will be 'dogs @Bammer, @LSU, and maybe @OM...

Heavy favs vs USA, @ UMASS, and Samford...

Of AU, A&M, Arkie, @KY, @SC and @BYU, I think yall go 4-2...

O/U is 7. Seven wins is a push for Mullen. 4 OOC, UK, USCe, and then one of Arky, Auburn, UM, and A&M. Winning seven in a down year would be a step up, but I don't think you could call it anything other than a push with this year's schedule (assuming a lot of SECW teams don't surprise to the upside). Six is ok for a down year, but definitely not moving forward. 8 wins in what should be a rebuilding year would be pretty damn good.

I'll be the idiot and call for a balls out 10 win regular season. Only losses LSU and Bama. I think everyone is selling us short again.
Fitz, Holloway, Dear, Senior, on O have break out years. The D will become legendary.

I suspect that if A&M doesn't implode, A&M will be favored against us. Even if they do implode, we've underachieved against them badly I think every year except for 2014, so I think they are our least likely win after Bama and LSU.

I think we go either 5-1 or 6-0 in that stretch of games. We are home against USC btw.

If Trevor Knight doesn't work out for A&M, they won't go to a bowl.

You guys do realize on A&M we were in the game last year but the years we were overpowered by them they had Johnny Football. They don't have a good QB backing up Trevor Knight and both of their five star QBs are gone. Mark my words, if Knight doesn't work out they are SOL this year. With that said by the time we play them, this should be known. Awful lot of eggs being put in the basket of a QB who has had one signature game.

Thanks for the correction re: SC...

Regarding A&M, Trev isn't the cat with which I'd be most concerned:

A&M does have a really tough schedule...

If they can't beat MSU, they are gonna be a ~.500 team and Sumlin's seat may incinerate him...

I feel pretty solid on 8 wins and think we have a chance at 9.

We have recruited better than even our own fans give us credit for. Stop counting stars.

Mullen is a QB whisperer and he has 4 to choose from. We will get solid QB play.

We will run the ball. Last year was an anomaly due in part to how good Dak was passing.

The OL will be better because Rufus Warren is gone.

Our defense will be just fine. It will be as good as last year if not better. The 3-4 will help with pressure and the corners will be fine. Smitherman could have played last year and Durr will be a beast.

14! Remember when Peyton left Tenn? The next year Tee Martin led them to a Natty. Why not?

Win all 4 non conference and win against KY, Arky, Aub and SC.
Losses to LSU, Bama, OM, and aTm.

8-4

Would have to be 15 then. 12 reg season, sec champ game, and 2 playoff games.

With this schedule, anything less than an 8-5/9-4 finish, and someone needs to be fired.

There is no excuse for State not to win our OOC games, SC, UK, AU, and UPig. No reason whatsoever to lose to any of those teams.

edit/bump:

Now that I look at both A&M and AU's '16 schedule; I think the MSU game will be pivotal for both to have a winning season... Guz and Kev will be coachin' for their jobs in that game...
