Lots of interesting weight changes.

Jeff Simmons 6-4 310. Dang! Good 3-4 DE size.

I hadn't heard about Evans leaving. Glad Aeris added some pounds. Got to get Simmons a better number.

I also hope that Justin Senior weight is accurate. Guy played at about 280 last year, I don't care what the roster said.

I thought he was going to play nose guard.

Bryant added 2 inches?! Is this a growth spurt or creative measuring?

Logan Cook is a big fella for a puntet/kicker. 6'5" 224lbs

Maybe. I hadn't heard. Thought he was supposed to be an already developed 275lb DE that can rush the passer, based on the way Steve and others have talked about him. Not that he can't rush the passer at 310, assuming he's in shape, but he wouldn't really be doing that at the nose.

I thought I had heard that because of his weight and size they were speculating that he would be backing up Nick James this season. I could be wrong. I just think we need to get him on the field especially on obvious passing downs.

Simmons wont be a DE in a 4-3 look...he could probably play NT or DE in a 3-4

You know a guy would never try to sneak in an extra inch or two on a measurement.

By the way I communicate measurements to "some", Bryant would be 12' 5"...

Simmons hasn't been 275lbs in quite some time. He played his Sr year at 285-290lbs. He will play in college around 295-300lbs. He's a prototype DE in the 3-4. He's a few lbs overweight because he couldn't workout & run when he 1st got to campus due to a leg injury but he's back to full speed now. He'll be at around 300lbs when the season starts.

Thanks, Dan. Good info.

Any concerns about Thomas being an effective pass-catching TE at around 300lbs?

Not having seen him play I'm not. Folks at both ECCC & MSU think the kid can be a NFL player. He's an athletic freak.

We've got some huge quarterbacks. Staley is Relf sized.

Staley is much bigger than Relf. Relf was about the size of Dak but an inch or two taller. Staley is Cam Newton size. Maybe slightly bigger.

I just can't buy into the idea that at 5'-9"/220#, Malik Dear is best utilized in the slot.....the guy is just built like a running back. Donald Gray seems like he would be much better suited to fill the 'Percy Harvin role'.....but with our lack of outside receivers, I can at least see why they have Gray where they do.

This prompted me to scan back through our past few signing classes and I really didn't realize how bad of a job we have done with outside receivers.....the only outside guys that we have signed in the past 3 classes are Jessie Jackson, Reginald Todd, Osirus Mitchell and I guess maybe you could count Jonas Spivey (we have signed like 6 tight ends in that same period). After looking at it, I think we may have done a worse job with recruiting outside receivers than we have with offensive linemen.
