Cam wasn't a stellar athlete, but he was well above average in the mental aspect of the game. Him moving people around, like he did against Auburn, is what made our craptacular D last year look so good. Do we have anyone of that caliber on D this year?

Don't know if he'll be to that point yet, but I think it will basically be McKinney beginning this year. He will be the MLB and will be the one directing.

Hughes is supposed to be good in this regard.

Cam was absolutely a very cerebral player, it was fun watching him call out the offense's plays. That is where time in the film room pays dividends. I read somewhere where McKinney has moved into that role for us this year

McKinney has definetly moved into that role.. But I don't think he will be anywhere as active and vocal like Cam was, but I do hope so. I loved watching Cam pre snap

I think Hughes is the guy this year. I sure hope Mckinney is ready to take that on too because if they're both ready to do it we shouldn't get confused at any point this season.

Collins said that this the whole Defense meets together instead of being deprecated into groups like they were last year, that way everybody knows who's doing what and can just about play anywhere if/when needed.. If we would have done this last year Cam would have had a field day!!

Everything I've read said hughes is basically at least directing the secondary some and I think it's a big part of him starting. not that he's a terrible player, but I don't think he's physically our most talented safety but all reports say he's the most cerebral.

If it weren't for Cam we would have been 7-5 instead of 8-4, in the regular season.
