It's like a REALLY cheap version of the Liberty Bowl

I see it more along the lines as a crap version of the Independence Bowl

I think it's looking more like the Independence Bowl.

That's pretty sad when they can't even put in a permanent concrete structure and add sky boxes or club levels!! And it only cost $43MM!! Like it has been said, good luck walking under them to the bathroom and getting drinks and food raining down on your head!

Their entire stadium is like Frankenstein. Nothing matches and just looks pieced together.

ETA: I will throw them a bone and say this, though, it does look good for metal bleachers.

Anybody have a sketch of what Davis Wade would look like bowled in? I know they have talked about it may happen in a few years but I'm anxious to know how they will do it? Are they going to tear the locker room and jumbo tron down and then fill in with another screen on top like the new endzone or are they just going to bowl around what's already there somehow?

I will say this. Whatever we do won't be influenced by what they do. We won't desperately cobble together some bull shit garbage just to be bigger than THEM.

"look good for metal bleachers" that sums up the bears. It is all about appearance and nothing to do with substance.

It's gonna be a few years before we bowl in the south endzone. Next up has to be the west side 100 and 200 level converted to premium seating and an expanded and modernized press box. By the time the South endzone enters the picture the jumbotron will be outdated. the M-Club needs to be replaced anyways.

A '20 years in the future rendering' before the expansion was finalized (South endzone looks different than what was built):

The designers of the North End Zone apparently thought ahead a bit. Unless I'm sadly mistaken, there are two tunnels in the NW and NE corners, and only the NE is used now by the visitors. Presumably they were looking ahead to the day when the south end would be bowled and and our dressing rooms would be in the NW corner.

Yep. You hit it.

I've only been to one game at "the Vaught", and that was maybe 15 years ago. I think at the time visitors sat in the SE corner, and I think the bleachers we sat on were part of their latest expansion at the time. I seem to remember them having the ringing sound of being not-so-solid, like they were built the same as the ongoing expansion. You just couldn't see through them at the time, and I expect that they'll fill in the open spaces on the new expansion.

Damn! That is so fine! Only other thing I would wish for is LED "bowled in" lights around the top like Bryant Denny stadium has.

I never noticed the lack of lights on the stadium.

I like the design that was used better than what's in that rendering.

Correct... I'll be glad when those phuckers discover concrete so I can leave my sledge hammer, wire cable, and grounding rod at home...

I agree with ya TUSK. Wouldn't want to be in the "lightning rod section" during a thunderstorm. Somebody's gonna get lit up.
