I hate to tell them but Momma already called. By that logic Bear would have wound up at Arkansas.

Would be shocking if it happened. John is from T-Town and all- and Bama could certainly afford him. I just cant see it.

I could see it- but only after he wins a NC here first.

I think they will go after Tulane's coach David Pierce who used to be at Troy and turned Tulane around in one year or Marc Calvi from South Alabama who was at South Carolina as an assistant.

To be honest Kentucky's coach leaving probably has more impact on MSU long term because Gary Henderson was Cohen's pitching coach there and was also with Cohen at Florida. If/when Wes Johnson leaves, that's probably who is going to be our next pitching coach. Hopefully down the road a few years.

Also- there is some speculation that Texas is going to target O'Sullivan at Florida. And Dan McDonnell just signed a million dollar contract with Louisville- which means he's not likely to go to Ole Miss anytime soon.

The question would be could they afford our counter offer?

Cohen didn't want to play there and I doubt he wants to coach there.

Bama has way more money than us. Its more of a "would they pay it?"

Cohen to bamer is the dumbest shit I've heard in a while not coming from Oxford.

I don't think they would pay it for a baseball coach was what I was saying.

Correct that Bama has more money as an athletic dept.

I don't see any way it would happen. He hasn't resided in T-town since he was 18 years old. They won't outpay us. And he's only an hour from there now if he ever wants to go back and visit. Just doesn't make sense in any aspect.

This would be like Saban to State rumors. Funny as hell.

I'm concerned about many things when it comes to MSU athletics, but Cohen leaving for another coaching vacancy isn't one of those concerns.

I'm thinking he goes to Kentucky.

Shit. When Cohen leaves, what are the chances we can convince Polk to come out of retirement? He never bunted in the 2nd inning!!**

we can link any SEC budget article known to man that they have a much bigger sports budget than us. They just spent over $30MM on a new baseball stadium

We had to delay the start of ours by a year for lack of funding

Cohen to Bama?

Yes. Every other year for a 3 game weekend set.

Don't believe its about money. Cohen already makes a huge salary for a baseball coach. Alabama baseball is a step down from MSU baseball simply because its the distant 3rd sport there. They really only built the new facility because they are wallowing in money, not because they were in dire need of it.

Doesn't Bama's baseball coach have to mow Saban's lawn and shine his shoes? I don't think Cohen wants to do that.

The heck? Why on earth would 'Momma' for Cohen be Alabama?

Because he is from Tuscaloosa originally. But that's about it. When you add together the years he played at State to the number of years he's been our coach now, it's probably not too much less than the total years he spent in Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa is a ****hole. Not like it's Athens or Nashville.

It an't like he's out west wanting to get close to home. Hell he only lives a hour or so away now. Why would he leave? Miss state is more of a brand name in football then Bama and at State Baseball is almost given equal footing as football.

Ha Ha this time last year several of yall would have helped Cohen pack. Funny how a year changes everything. It is good to be winning in baseball again.

By that logic MSU will always be 'Momma' to AJ Brown because he is from Starkville. That thinking is VERY flawed.

Of course it is flawed. I was just explaining why some people (not me) think he might be a viable candidate there. Personally I see no way that he leaves Starkville until he retires or is let go.

Also, something tells me we won't have to worry about AJ Brown becoming a Top 10 head coach in college football one day, so I doubt we will ever run into that dilemma.
