In the past, it seems like they announce the 8 national seeds on Sunday then the entire field on Monday. Does anyone know if that is the case?

I think I heard on TV just the opposite, but I could be wrong or the announcers could be incorrect.

I'm pretty sure we'll know all 16 host sites tonight. Field of 64 will be released tomorrow

That was posted & then retweeted by Kendall Rogers this morning

Makes sense: gives the host schools an extra day to prep for the event

I would think that the potential host schools would have known for quite a while whether they will be hosts or not, based on their team's record, RPI, etc.

Your right about the top12 or so.... But there is always some jockeying for those last few spots. You also have to take into account that there might be one or two "one seeds" that may not get to host (see FAU).

And the 8 national seeds won't be known until the selection show on Monday.

That's become pretty rare recently.

But it will happen this year with FAU.

Why can't FAU host? Small stadium? Schedule conflict?

USM may have something to say about that. We'll see if they win today or not first though.

They probably didn't put in a bid to host. Even though on the field performance is still what determines whether you host or not, you still must put in a bid for a regional and SR. And of course Scott has already done so for us.

FAU did not bid.

That should be a firable offense for an AD unless they are planning on building a brand new stadium and have to start construction immediately. Especially in Miami where there are a ton of spring training facilities in the area that they could use.

No doubt.

Espn must be cringing having to use the air time for this.
