Does bama throw their Friday night guy? They desperately need rpi help and beating us would really help

How many did he throw Friday? That's a quick turn around but doable if he only threw 60 to 70. Correct me if I'm wrong baseball gurus.

Definitely doable if he pitched last Thursday.

We should definitely expect to see him tomorrow afternoon.

That's what I'm thinking. Him vs Houston would seem like advantage bama. We did hang 5 on him in 6 ip though the first time we faced him

I fully agree the seeming advantage between pitchers would go Bama's way tomorrow. If we can get through tomorrow with a W, we are going to be awfully tough on the mound moving forward.

I think it will be a good test for us if we have to go Houston vs their Ace.
We may blow up on the guy anyway but if not we just need to chip away and hope to get into their pen.

No surprise and I don't feel they really have a choice. I think they are probably in the field of 64 as a 3 seed somewhere, but cement it if you can. If I was their coach, I'd be doing exactly the same. We just gotta bring the sticks tomorrow and some competitive arms.

Why wouldn't they. They badly need to beat us and I'm sure their plan all along was to put all their marbles in the beating us basket

Bramblett's advantage over Houston comes down to two things: consistently starting games and walks. If Houston can keep the walks relatively under control, I like him here. He strikes out more and allows fewer runs.

Houston has great stuff and has a lot of potential. He is a guy who we should know if he is on pretty early. If he can locate early, we should be able to get quite a few innings out of him. I'm not as concerned about their ace. We touched him up pretty good. Their middle guy was the one who kind of shut us down. Should be a good game. I think we will win something like 5 or 6-3.

help me out, Todd.... the cat that pitched today (Eicholtz 3-3; 2.25) has a lower ERA but Bramblett (5-3; 2.76) pitches on Fridays....

Walters (5-4; 2.30) pitches on Sat and Eicholtz on Sundays...

which is which re: ACE?

That pitching is too good to be .500 in conference play.

Your coach says bramblett by starting him on Fridays

Well when we played them earlier this year the first guy they pitched was really the only guy we hit that weekend. Hope its the same guy.

that's what I'm asking, buddy... Is "Friday Starter = Ace" a constant?....

caveat (in case ya forgot): I know less than dick about baseball...

Yeah, basically. Not a hard and fast rule, but it works out that way 95% of the time.

Not all the time. Look at LSU. We all know Lange is their ace. Hell, he was pitching Sat for a little while and Poche was pitching Friday. Poche started Friday against us and Lange picthed Saturday against Sexton. I think most tho do have their ace going on Fridays tho.

it's the norm but I think some pitch it backwards a bit hoping to steal friday then sat u have ur ace vs their number 2.

pretty sure in 2013 graveman was our Saturday and Friday was Pollo for 2-3 inning and the pen. and graveman was pretty steady that year. I could be wrong.

In the SEC it's not always the Friday night starter that is the ace. Some teams throw their ace on Saturday. Others have provided examples but I'll also add Mozzou throwing Houck on Saturday.

But for Bama I would say that Bramblett would be considered your ace.

I don't think we're going to ask Houston to throw more than three innings unless he is rolling. Really this is our bullpen vs Bramblett. And I think they are pissed about game one of the Alabama double header. They have some motivation there. I'm expecting to see Rigby and Blake Smith for us tomorrow as well.
