"Tunsil, a former All-American offensive tackle at Ole Miss, hired a man to work as his business manager and financial adviser in mid-October, about two-and-a-half months before his junior season with the Rebels ended, according to the sources. The man scheduled agents' meetings with Tunsil and his mother, Desiree Polingo, and handled other duties for him.

Tunsil fired the business manager after other agents informed Tunsil that the man wasn't licensed or registered to work as a financial adviser but was a "runner," a term used to describe someone who gives money and other benefits to a player in order to entice the player to sign with an agent or financial adviser with whom the runner is working.

The sources said the business manager gave Tunsil a new cell phone in mid-October. People close to Tunsil believe the man might have accessed Tunsil's social media accounts Thursday by logging into them through his old phone.

Doesn't this lead to more admission of guilt. U can't meet with agents, take money from them, or phones etc... This was after his suspension so they played an ineligible player all those games should be forfeited. Also how can u afford to hire a financial manager but not afford rent.......

And if Freeze and other coaches helped facilitate these agent meetings they're screwed. Everybody getting a show cause!

I don't think there's a rule against meeting agents. You just can't accept gifts or benefits from them, like new cell phones, for example. Other things you can't accept: meals, airfare, transportation, etc.

Another question that Ole Miss fans would need to answer is this.

If Tunsil was so poor that his family was granted legal financial assistance from the University, why would he need to hire a "Business Manager and Financial Adviser" ?

Obviously I am not an NCAA rules expert but this sounds like some sort of gray area. He didn't hire an outright agent but rather a sort of handler to arrange meetings with agents. Having said that, this topic probably arises regularly and I'm sure the NCAA already has a set way of interpreting rather or not the handlers are agents or something else.

Let's not play dumb. He could for sure hire someone based off future earnings.

Well if the texts came from his agent provided phone...to coaches...then this would be as good as a burner phone to the NCAA. See what comes out.

College players cannot hire agents, per NCAA rules, while they are playing or undeclared for a professional league's draft. The NCAA has rules that broadly define what an "agent" is, and those rules can include people acting as financial advisers to players. An NCAA official declined comment to Outside the Lines about whether it is investigating anything related to Tunsil's former business manager/financial adviser, citing policy that prohibits it from commenting on current, pending or potential investigations.

Actually, this occurred DURING his suspension. The article says he accepted the phone in mid-October. His suspension was lifted October 24. So...WHILE he was suspended for illegal contact with agents, he CONTINUED to meet with agents and RECEIVED improper benefits from agents.

Lmao. There's no way for the NCAA to keep up with all the violations at this point. It's amazing that they ever got an NOA out in the first place. Only took them 3 years to stop finding stuff long enough to write a letter about it. Then, just when they thought it was over, they have to go back again!!!

You seriously could not script a better story of an NCAA investigation. I can't wait to see the 30 for 30 in 10 years.

It needs to be shown on the jumbotrons at Davis Wade. With free popcorn!
