since both games are 7 innings. Can't get in much of a hole early if you want to win so need Sexton and Pilkington to come out sharp. Middle relief doesn't mean much when you can essentially bring in your closer in the 6th or 7th inning.

We typically struggle on Sunday's when we are thinner at pitching... Getting to miss 4 innings is going to help us.

If we can get a big lead early, is there a chance we pull Sexton so we can pitch him in the next game? Or is that strategy just not practical?

Won't happen. You hardly ever see a pitcher come back and pitch after an hour rain delay. Must be hard on a pitcher to get warmed up, get cold, and then come back and warm up again

Terribly hard and risk his arm for remainder of season trying that. Best to let him go cg.

Yeah, point taken. Just a thought, though. Him going CG tomorrow would be great for game 1; I'd definitely like our chances at the sweep if that happened.

We usually struggle late in the game on Sunday. Playing only 7 might be an advantage.

Wasn't downplaying the idea necessarily. Seen it done successfully but risk vs reward is very high. Hopefully the bats will be alive early tomorrow and we can coast a bit and not have to worry. Sexton has got to be nails tomorrow

Yeah, there was no offense taken, man. It was just a wild idea, on my part, considering how Sexton has been able to throw a lot of pitches in several outings this year.
