The title should be why don't they.

Don't we hold the tie breaker against both LSU and Ole Miss?

Yes Jack, officially we are second. But for whatever reason, whenever you see this sort of thing on the internet, it is usually listed from best to worst overall record for whatever aesthetic reason.

I think during the season, they rank teams in order of conference record first, then overall record second. They don't figure in tiebreakers until all the games are played. The reason for that is that in theory, we could still end up in, say, a 5 way tie with LSU, OM, Bama, and TAMU, and the order of tie breakers might have us in a different order than right now with just the 3 teams you mentioned (which we would win if the season ended today).

Actually, your title is correct. Brits would probably say "don't" since they consider (what I call) collective plurals as actual plurals, and Americans generally don't. For instance, we would say "the group is" where they would say "the group are". Likewise with SEC.

The moderator corrected the title so it looks different then what I posted.

the sec does not recognize or break ties with the exception of determining seeding. all teams with same record are considered equal or tied.
