Looked at Boyd's World RPI needs report for the first time today. We have 16 games remaining and are 15 in his RPI. To stay there we need to win 12 and to get in the RPI top 8 we have to win 15. Pretty tall order.

You can't say that bc it matters what other teams do.

Yeah it will obviously change somewhat but it basically tells us we have minimal room for error from this point on.

We also won't have to be in the Top 8 to get a National Seed because we have a very good SOS and have played more Top RPI teams than anyone in the country. It will be very very hard to keep us out of the National Seed discussion if we take a series at LSU and win our 4 remaining series including 1 sweep or more. That would put us at 18-19 SEC wins, a Top 15 RPI, and road series wins at Florida, at Vandy, at LSU, vs OM. Also wins over potential hosts USM, USA, and a sweep over Oregon who is starting to turn it up. We have a damn good resume....just need to get to 18-19 SEC wins IMO.

What's crazy is that those Sunday games vs Georgia, Ole Miss, & FAU could end up being the difference in a Natty seed. Sure would be nice to have swept UGA & OM and our league record be 11-5 right now. Those were two huge blown opportunities. But that's baseball.

Our SOS after the Governor's Cup is going to be as high as it will be all season, and will probably be around the same as it is now. After that, it is going to be a slow burn over the final month of the season where SOS is concerned. Will probably finish in the mid 20's to mid 30's range, which is still pretty good. But it's probably not going to be good enough for us to have an RPI worthy of a national seed unless we just kill it over the final 15 games. Our #162 nonconference SOS isn't doing us any favors either.

It would great if we get back one of those SEC should've won along with a non conference one as well. Like if we had a do over on one of each. If we could sweep Ole Miss, with UGA as 2nd choice, and ORU, with EKU as 2nd choice.

I don't think it will drop that low.

Actually, latest projections might show that you are right. Currently SOS projected to be 15 at the end of the season. Still, we are going to need a lot of wins down the stretch to get in that national seed discussion. 43 wins has been the magic number over the past several years. That means we need to finish with around 39 or 40 wins and also get deep in the SEC tourney and possibly win it. 39 wins would require us going 13-3 down the stretch starting today, which will be a VERY tall order.

National seed ship most likely sailed last Sunday. We need to stay firmly in the host discussion however, for the sake of most attitudes around here. Need one of the next two to stay in that realm.
