Once the lead is only 1 with our top of lineup up in the 9th, you either stick with brown or use a good reliever. You don't go to another lefty... I think it comes down to pitch selection IMO. His out pitch is his cutter. It still is unhittable and A&M couldn't hit it last night. They hit his fastballs that had no movement and his hanging curves. He could have thrown cutters to Melton all night every pitch and struck him out every time. His breaking ball wasn't good last night yet he kept pitching it at crucial times. He also didn't get the benefit of a huge strike zone like A&Ms pitcher had. Mayners is an asshat old man and needs to retire. There were several strikes he called balls that were strike 3s that could have made a difference.
