Dammit! How long will he be out?

Guess it would have happened on the slide home? Only part of that play that would have possibly injured his hand. Hard to swing a bat with a broken hand though. That sucks.

Could be awhile depending on several factors.

He actually played and started the next two days but yesterday it got to where he couldn't hold the bat. On Saturday he went 2-4 with an RBI with a broken hand.

It just means more Mangum in CF, more Cody Brown and more Rooker.

It may mean that Michael Smith gets more playing time.

That sucks but it makes sense. I was wondering why he got pulled in the middle of the game in a non-pinch hit situation on Sunday. The silver lining is that OF is the area where we can actually afford an injury. We really have 5 guys in Robson, Mangum, Rooker, Humphries, and Brown where you could argue that all of them really deserve to play every day. Now, we'll just slide Mangum over to CF and play two out of the other 3 depending on matchups. Hopefully Robson makes it back soon though as there is no substitute for his speed.

I had a pretty good angle of that play, and I'm not surprised he hurt it. Hope it's not severe. His hand went directly into Lartigue's spike. That's why I didn't think he touched home, at least not with his left hand.

He will be the best pinch runner in college baseball

I think that's how we will use him if he can't hit.

Damn, Robson is an anchor player for us. This is a set back if he can't play.

I'm more worried about losing his glove in Center than his bat I think. He gets such great jumps and really has command of the outfield. A lot to place on the Freshman, but if anybody has the mental makeup it's probably Mangum. I wouldn't be shocked if Cody Brown started in CF and Mangum in RF though. Especially if we're facing a RHP in game 1 vs Florida.

Yeah- curious to see if #TheMeddler will go with experience in Cody or future talent in Mangum. I'd lean Mangum and roll with it. It's what he has played most of his life- throw him out there

It's not near as severe as its being made. At worst he is out till A&M but they expect him to play this weekend.

I don't want him playing unless he's healthy. A hurt Robson probably isn't a better option than a healthy mangum. Rather let Robson heal and have him strong later than him have a lingering injury all year

Trust the player and coaches they aren't stupid about injuries

Trusting players isn't always the smartest thing esp in robson's draft year... He might push it too fast

Yep, this is probably more of a case of trusting your physicians and trainers. Definitely don't want him playing too quickly if it could make it worse or slow the healing process.

Great news. I told someone in the room that he was going to be hurt when I saw the slide. It didn't look right.

I'm sorta basing it off his ab's Sunday too. He seemed dead set to bunt his first ab despite bortles pretty much standing beside the pitcher's mound. The 2nd ab, he had a terrible swing that led to a pop up down the left field line. He left after that

He's already gone with Mangum. He moved him to CF when Robson left the game on Sunday and inserted Rooker in RF.

Not sure we had a good read on how severe it is at this point. To now we have a post about a broken hand and someone else saying "its not as severe as its being made". Now I don't know if that might mean perhaps its not broken are that maybe its some type of hairline fracture that he could play with or what.

Robson's best asset is his speed and we'll have his speed when we need it most. Won't matter though unless we can find 2-3 more pitchers. We won't last long in Supers/Omaha with just two pitchers.

One good thing about a lot of hand fractures is they tend to heal quickly a lot of times. I say that not knowing which bone is fractured or anything other than that, but it's very conceivable that he could be back soon.
