Maybe this will motivate Vic to find an offensive coach and recruit nationally and go get some better talent. It's been great to see what he's building but now it's time to take the next step. I know it's UConn and totally different but thought I'd share.. The girls Varsity team at my high school had won like 2 State championships in a row, and my 8th grade catholic school team I played on scrimmaged them and beat them by 30. The girls went on to win State again in highest classification. Ha not bragging just thought it was worth sharing.

I said on this board that I'd be thrilled if we kept it within 40, and I was serious. Did I expect us to lose by 60? I'd say my expectation was around 45-50. So I expected us to get utterly dominated. Regardless of the exact final score, this was always going to be a massacre.

UConn is terrible for Women's BBall too. These 40+ point routes against ranked teams are horrible for attracting fans to the sport. Why even tune in if your team isn't playing? You already know who's winning it all b4 the season starts. They are single handedly keeping it from advancing forward at a steady rate IMO. Well, that and the fact that it's a women's sport, ha.

We were "Not Ready for Primetime." We had open shots, just couldn't make the routine shots we normally make, especially early. I think we started with a bad case of nerves. They were quick, fast and long at every position. They had four players who could shoot the 3 at 40% or more. Even with Vivians, we don't have any. We matched their speed at only the PG, but their PG was 5 inches taller. Play this game in Starkville, and not in Connecticut and we only lose by 30. Brianna Stewart was the best 6-4 guard/forward/center I have seen.

Yes we need more shooters. We knew that the whole season. We are a defensive team and matched up well with teams everyone we played this year besides UCONN. UCONN is just a different level. We had no chance to win today. They are more physical, faster, smarter, and better shooters.
We did not play up to the level we should have been able to but it was a great learning experience for the young team AND VIC.

All this bullshit sexist talk about how a girls team would do against a guys team just need to stop.. It will never happen and cant be answered.

This was not outside the realm of what I thought was probable, and I definitely wouldn't say it was embarrassing. It's UConn, they can beat just about anybody by just about any margin they want to. There are a very small handful of teams that can keep them honest for any real length of time, and we're not one of them.

Well, the men's game and women's game are totally different. When a person says that UConn could compete with a men's team, it's said totally in jest and is merely a means of emphasizing just how good they are ... for a women's team. There's no doubt that UConn has assembled the cream of the crop for women's basketball. We'll see soon if there are any teams that can even come close to competing ... I don't think there are. Our women play a more traditional women's game ... seemingly slow (compared to men), and even a bit awkward. UConn's women can actually handle the ball, make good passes ... against other women! But no, they'd never compete with a man's team ... they lack the strength, size, and just about all the other physical characteristics. Men's basketball, to me, is a combination of finesse and street brawl; I'm not sure what women's is ... but it's fun to watch.
