Double to Left wins the game. The game technically ends at the moment the 8th run ahead is scored. So, the final is 10-2.

It actually scored two runs. I get the run rule but the play should finish so that the players can get full credit for their accomplishments. Bailey will only get credit for 1 RBI and I really don't think that's right to rob her of that.

Can you see only needing one run and hitting your first grand slam (or only one) of your career only to have it not count?

Bulldogs improve record to 20-8, 1-2 SEC

We will host Central Arkansas (19-10), whom we defeated 3-0 earlier this year in the Bulldog Slamboree, tomorrow night at 6:30 pm

The game will be on TV on the SECN (actually....not just on ESPNapp/SEN+)

I will be working until 7:00pm and will have the game on DVR so I'll probably be an hour behind and may not catch up during the commercials until the final inning if at all, so while I'll try to post the roster I won't be giving updates unless it's right at the end!!!!

I understand the thought but I'm pretty sure, for example, for a baseball game in extra innings if the same situation you described happened in the bottom of the 10th that game would also end when the winning run for the home team crosses the plate even if more runs could have scored on the play. So I do get why they end it the way they do. Now the difference may be in your hypothetical. I can't imagine if a girl knocks a HR in that situation that they wouldn't count all the runs. I mean in baseball if the home team hits a HR to win it in the bottom of the 9th or extra innings all runs are counted even if its more than were needed to win. Otherwise, like you said, you've robbed someone of a HR.

I guess I'm kind of saying I don't see enough difference not to finish the play other than if the ball goes over the fence the defense has nothing to do with it. They can't make a throw, can't make a play. Oh well, I just like stats to reflect on field results as much as possible. Though by rule, in the case of the game the other night, it did reflect the on field results. I think it could be argued either way.
