I was wondering if that was some type of round robin tourney or if they were really playing a series vs Grambling. That's awful.

Well they played all 3 and their RPI hasn't flinched. In fact they moved up to number 3. I know it's early but playing SWAC teams and blowing your RPI is overblown.

Sites shouldn't even publish RPIs this early - completely and totally meaningless. This will absolutely hurt Ole Miss by seasons end, even though it won't be obvious.

No different than playing 3 SWAC teams during various midweeks, of course.

If you are going to do it, go with an in state team.

Definitely. I'm ok with two SWAC games a year. Alcorn and MVSU. One game each, no more.

I'm not. I'd much prefer we schedule a close regional team with a top 40 rpi those two games.

Ole Miss is getting probably too much credit for beating Louisville at home- especially when you look at the rest of their schedule. Coastal Carolina could end up being a nice mid major win- but they only played them once in a tournament setting. I'm pretty sure they focused most of their energy on Louisville since the rest of their OOC schedule so far has only three other teams with winning records- Coastal Carolina (10-7) and Arkansas State who is one win over .500 who they barely beat by one run at home, and SEMO State which is 9-7 and Ole Miss had to come from behind to beat them on Weds. Not to mention 5-10 Memphis allowing like 7 unearned runs in a loss in Oxford.

They're just now playing their first "true" road contests this week- against 6-9 UAB. They'll bring cigars and Polk will let them have two wins.

Were 5-1 against teams that were ranked when we played them.

43rd. MSU, on the other hand, is no. 28 in the RPI and has a sos of 47th. There's NO WAY in hell their schedule has been tougher than ours, at least that I can see. Other noteables: Oregon is 29th in the RPI and Oklahoma is a whopping 214th. No excuse for us blowing that one.

I have always wished that the governors cup would be a Thurs, Fri, Sat and Sunday series with all six Div I teams in the State. I think that would be pretty cool. Play it at Trustmark Stadium.

You must of missed how RPI works.. It's meaningless this early in the season.

I wouldn't worry about Ole Miss' baseball team this year. They aren't bad, but MSU has significantly more and better players than them this year.

They are playing well right now, but it likely won't last.

And after sweeping the SWAC team they move up 4 places in D1 poll, whereas we move up 5 after smoking Oregon. Makes sense.*** It may be because teams ahead of them lost, but I haven't checked that.
