He didn't improve as much as Beni Brown. Most guys run slower at the NFL Combine than when they have their Pro Day. Bear probably didn't improve enough to go higher than 5th or 6th round. I am not sure he would break 4.7 if he trained all year for it.

At the combine the time is a partial hand and electronic time. However, I've been told that the time we see could be some type of composite. Most scouts use their own hand time for each guy so they can compare.

At pro day it's all hand time, at least it has been.

Most track coaches know how to train speed, power, and strength. Usually much better than a football s&c. Sad but true. The football s&c is usually a rah rah guy who has athletes do burnout squats or burnout leg press or some hullshit like that to "toughen them up". Or they run 20x110 too often, especially with the big guys and they end up never sharpening for games or testing.

The "football ego" prevents them from mKing that 200y walk to the track office to how they might do things with powerful athletes who excel at tests like these.

Kelvin Benjamin ran a 4.7 I think at the combine and he did just fine. Let not write Bear off. He can play the Jimmy Graham type role as a hybrid TE. We know he can block better than Graham, that's for damn sure

Spears is a proven idiot. The Texans just picked up Brock O and I'd bet that we'd still pick up Dak in the 3rd if he's still there. I don't see any way Dak makes it past the 3rd. QBs are too valuable, hard to predict and hard to find to just keep passing guys that were all sec first team.

Spears has been consistently positive in his opinions @ Dak throughout the process. He may go in the 2nd or the 5th it's not a put down.

Spears was an All pro in the NFL and an All American in college, he's not dumb and generally positive about MSU.
