Hey BB, I want you to know that this is one of the threads that I truly appreciate. I have a daughter who played softball from the time she was 4 through high school. she played select A level ball from the age of 8. We played everywhere from Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles over the years. Consistently in national tournaments. When the scholarship offers came in, she said nope, I'm through, but I still appreciate the game. We used to schedule vacations around softball tournaments. If nobody else cares about these threads, I do.

Hey BB, I want you to know that this is one of the threads that I truly appreciate. I have a daughter who played softball from the time she was 4 through high school. she played select A level ball from the age of 8. We played everywhere from Ft. We used to schedule vacations around softball tournaments. If nobody else cares about these threads, I do.
This is similar to how it went for me except my girl didn't play at that level or for as long. She pursued art instead and is currently at the Mississippi School of the Arts. I still enjoy the game though. It's been easier to get more excited about the softball team than the baseball team of late anyway.

UCLA is going to be a tough out. They're 13-8 against a very tough schedule, including LSU, Florida, Michigan, among others that I don't recall. They split with TAMU.
UCSB (12-8) also seems to have a respectable schedule, including a win over USCe.
Fullerton is 13-7 IIRC, and CSULB is 11-8

I 2nd that. My daughter, too did the same. Recruited by a college even though she decided against pursuing or playing. Made her mind up she wanted to major in Chem-E, so decided playing ball would be too much of a distraction.
I'm really proud of her decision, but there are times I can't help but wonder how fun it would have been to watch her play college ball.
ETA - Brings back some fond memories, including a few times I'd take her out to a local ballpark to field grounders, etc. Often when she was fielding at Short and she'd throw the ball to first with that distinct, "pop", guys hanging around the park would sometimes stop and watch, with some stunned looks &, "Holy shit"'s, etc.
She was so fast and quick that her HS coach (who played pro ball himself) would sometimes laugh when he was having the infielders practice diving for grounders by hitting them a little too far for them to get to without diving. He'd chuckle because my daughter would routinely get in position to field it without diving. He just couldn't believe he wasn't hitting it far enough away. Her range was impressive.

I agree with you. I've never been to a girls' softball game at the college level, but I've watched them on television and it's pretty interesting. They're all Bulldogs and deserve our support, even if it's only pulling for them.
