Actually I agree with this ... and I'm not a Cohen defender, although I'm trying to give him a fair shot. In baseball or basketball, go play top notch teams out of conference and get better ... it's a long season and may help with getting prepared for SEC play. In addition ... you're not gonna win every baseball game.

I'm not a fan of the Stansbury scheduling philosophy. I also would like to see Mullen add a couple of tougher teams to the OOC schedule. Doesn't have to be Ohio State, but tougher teams.

We are going to be fine. Not going to lose many games 2-1. Not going to have the 3-4 holes go 0-7 without putting balls in play very often. We had every chance to knock off the defending #1 national seed and #9 team in the country in their yard -- with a guy on the hill that has never toed the rubber in a single UCLA loss in his career. Lowe is struggling -- Rooker has not been as advertised -- Collins is struggling -- and so is Humphreys. That's a recipe for early trials and tribulations. The freshmen are all balling out and are going to get better and better. As is Hudson. I'm legit worried about Collins and Hump. I think Lowe is seeing a Pirtle-esque learning curve and going to ball out eventually -- and I think Rooker is going to figure it out.

My concern is that these are the types of games that a team with "it" finds a way to win more often than not. And we haven't had that aspect of the game since 2013. Finding that/not finding that will be the difference in our season. Not lack of talent. Not lack of quality coaching. Mental approach. But I felt a little swag from the freshmen and young guys there at the end. Thought we had a great shot till Alexander went down 0-2.

We are where we are -- need to take the next 2 and the weekend will be a success while we discuss what might have been.

So you determined this -- our whole season -- in 3 whole games vs decent pitching? You determined what our team can and can't be -- 3 weeks into half the lineup's career as Dawgs and their first time on the road. And no amount of sense I try to speak can make you think otherwise.

I don't understand you guys. Is this freaking out every 5 seconds fun for you? It must be if you continue to do it. Some of you must live glorious real lives -- and use sports to knock you down a couple notches or something. Otherwise, what's your actual enjoyment of watching? If you can't believe in success -- and can't believe in improvement -- why do you continue to put yourself through it? How about -- let's just let it play out -- and if it falls apart, we get to have the best driver of conversation in sports -- a coaching search.

2) no, it's not. It's freaking out. It's taking the smallest possible sample size -- and calling it the big picture. This team is going to hit at at least an sec average level. If it doesn't, we can talk about making a change at the end of the year.

3) i didn't incessantly bitch about our football team. I was ready to make a change if we didn't make 6-6. And football is a different animal than baseball, which very few of our fans seem to grasp. It's all football mentality all the time here, where the season hangs in the balance in every game. If you look back, you'll see that my basic concerns from that are still valid.

I understand being patient with the freshmen at the bottom, but we have experienced guys in this lineup even if a few are jucos. It's time (like today) for these upperclassmen to step it up or sit. Even last night, it was a freshman to get that rally going and a sophomore with the big hit.

Not related, but I find it funny everyone bragging on Cohen's recruiting when we have to start 3 juco's... Where are the players we should have developed?

Exactly. How about instead of calling us out for bitching about a small sample size, zipping it until we see ANY sample size of positive in our offense vs even a decent team. I don't give a shit how small the sample size is....if we've sucked vs any team with a pulse on offense, it's ok to complain about it until we see differently.

Besides, we'll be the same ones owning that we were wrong about our concerns if we start turning it around. Not sure what evidence we have through Cohen's time here that could make anyone think we'll start hitting above average pitching at any point though. If anything, if we DO start hitting it, he's more likely to revert back to bunting abd taking the bats out of our hands than anything.

My bad he left just before I guess. He left just prior to that season but coached all of those players on how to hit. He was at a state from 2009-2012.
