MSU wraps up the weekend with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch against the SDSU Jackrabbits Sunday.

I never feel good about a Cohen team's chances of scoring, regardless of lineup. That said, I like seeing so many freshmen. These older guys just helped put up one of the worst seasons in MSU baseball history. I'm fine taking my chances with the new guys.

Growing up I remember we had players that were intense and had a swagger/attitude about them. They weren't flashy, they were beat your ass every pitch and let you hear about it type of players. Seems the players we have lately, while talented, seem timid and and lack that confidence/swagger. That 13' team had some players with that "edge" and that's the last I have seen of it. I see a little of it in Gridley, he's pretty intense. I realize it's the first game and we have some freshman but it was same way last year. Baseball is 90% mental. That physical part is there if Cohen can just get these guys to develop that edge. I fear though that it's not something that can be taught, you either have it or you don't. Just my two cents.

Not spinning, we are an average slightly above average team with a lot of youth ... That being said offensively, tough night running into a very solid arm to start the game guys that can hit spots and throw off speed for strikes especially behind in the count are tough. I thought pitching was going to be a question mark coming into the season played with a lot of guys that were head cases as freshman and head cases as jrs and srs just baseball. We probably aren't nearly as bad as we looked tonight and probably not as good as what some expected.

It isn't a learning disability. It is a total lack of confidence in his hitters. If he thought the guy at the plate could get a basehit, he wouldn't have him bunt. But it is obvious he still thinks his talent sucks.
